First there was elation our deployed son was awarded The Bronze Star on 12-28.We are so proud and I post it on FaceBook.Oh my the response brought tears to my eyes. The kindness , prayers and congratulations was so heartwarming and I am so grateful. Then on Wed.morning the news breaks of the suicide bomber in eastern Afghanistan...it is my sons base and my son is a Military Intelligence officer. The news continues to report the intelligence office was attacked.I invite friends for my middle school children over and they keep busy.I think I forget how to breath.Call my husband, his dad,and tell him the news.We remind each other in the military no news = good news.We wait .We wait. Then it comes: our son calls to say he is safe and very busy and loves us goodbye. The best call ever. Then I cry and still continue to cry off and on.Relief for me and sorrow for those eight families that lost members Wed.They weren't military but were in service to our country in a danger zone.I pray all our military and others serving our country in scary places return safely home. That they know of our gratitude.48 hours of elation and fear and gratitude. ```````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````.

I remember jumping out of my skin everytime someone knocked on the door...thinking please, please don't be a Chaplain & Marines in Dress Blues with the news that something happened to my husband. It's hard not to worry. Glad your son is okay. Hope he & his unit make it stateside soon.
Congratulations to your son and please tell him, "THANK YOU" for all he does for us!
I'm so glad he is okay. My thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost their loved ones.
First, many thanks to your son for his service to our country and congrats on receiving his bronze star.
Second, I'm glad that he is okay! That has got to be a scary tense time not knowing.
Thank God your son is safe, the Lord is watching over him and defintely has a purpose for his life. Congrats to your son, he's a true hero and is in my prayers as are all of our troops overseas, God bless:)
OMG what wonderful news. My son was a Marine special forces and he is out now, so I do know how you feel. I'm so very happy for you, but as you say, not for the ones that wasn't as lucky or blessed. Thank your son for what he is doing for all of us here..................Hugs
You tell your son I said thank you for serving.. And as a mommy.. I want to hug you and say.. I understand... however the hug is the only thing i can offer as I pray I will never understand the anguish you have just suffered.. GIANT HUGS THOUGH.
This gave me chills! My husband is in Iraq right now. I can't stand to watch the news while he's gone, my nerves just can't handle it. Thank God your son is okay! Thank your son for doing what he does, and congratulations on receiving the bronze star! You must be so proud!
PRAISE GOD.....Your Son is safe. My only brother was killed in Vietnam when he was 19, he had been there 27 days when he was killed. He was a PROUD MARINE though and had a deep desire to serve his LORD and his country....and we were proud of him, too. I still have his medals...he received a Purple Heart. I was in the Navy when he died. I was honored to be his official escort. I met his casket and brought him "home." I will be praying for you and your family...and if you ever want to talk to someone who understands how it feels...please send me a message. I pray you and your family have a Wonderful New Year filled with the LORD'S best "riches and treasures." among them, the safety of your Son. Much love in JESUS, HIS willing and faithful servant, Carla...the LORDSlady
