10 years ago tonight - The Millenium :-)

I wrote this last year too, but I love the story so much, I am going to share it with you again.

A little back-up to Christmas 1999 -

Tim gives his entire family a hand-made box.  In each box was a letter from Tim to each member of his family and  me.  He says "I am giving everyone a secret".  No one was allowed to read their "secret" out loud.  After everyone  would read, they would get up crying snd give him a hug.  Later that day- he did the same thing to my mom.  He talked to my dad a few months prior.  I was supposed to work New Years Day (only as a precaution due to the "scare" of Y2K).  Tim called my boss and somehow got me out of working.

New Years Eve 1999 - Tim wanted to take me to Biloxi, MS - because that's where we went on our 2nd date (May 30, 1995).  We arrived in Biloxi about 9:30pm.  We love casinos, so we went to "our casino", LOL - Casino Magic.  After much debate we decided to go to the beach and watch the fireworks that would be going off at midnight ~ So that is what we did.  When the fireworks started going off - I turned to kiss him.  He stopped me and said "First I want to read you a poem I wrote".  I still didn't think anything - and then he started reading:

God dropped His angel
And she landed in my heart
Lord I know you miss her
Now that you're apart
Please can I borrow her
For the rest of my days
I promise to treat her kindly
And only in good ways
So, will you answer my prayer
 As I am thankful for the love
Grant me this to cherish
Sent from Heaven above
God dropped his angel
And she landed in my life
On my knee, I pray, I ask
Rachael.....
Will you be my wife????

He then got down on 1 knee and gave me a beautiful ring.  I started crying and I hugged him.  Fireworks going off in the background.  I never remember even answering him, LOL.  But he said that I said "yes"

I had waited 4 years, 7 months, and 1 week for that moment - but it was definitely worth the wait.  It was better than what i had always planned in my head of what my engagement would be like.

Now what was in the Christmas letter  you ask?  In my letter - he told me how much he loved me and stuff like that.  In everyone elses letter - He told them that at the stroke of Midnight as it turned from 1999-2000 he would propose.  He went and talked to my dad a few months earlier and asked his permission to marry me.  We married 15 months later on March 31, 2001.

I know I give him a lot of grief - but I know I really do have a good husband.

One of the happiest times in my life!

Then 4 years later - we brought our first born home from the hospital and got to bring in 2004 as a family of three.  I LOVE NEW YEARS!!
