Looking forward to the upcoming week for several reasons. Monday will signal the "back to school" routines to begin and the "I've slept in for the last 10 days, do I really have to go to school today...I think I'm sick" quips from the teenaged son. On the other hand, the 1st grader has mixed emotions. He's missing some of his friends and his teacher and, I think, his normal routine but....he is also concerned about missing time on the Wii, laying around, and of course, what I will be doing all day. I am currently layed off for the winter and have ,so far, enjoyed a nice little break. I assured the young one that I will not be laying around in my jammies all day playing the Wii :) I do, however, look forward to some peace and quiet. All this family time needs to give way to some "me" time.
Part of that me time will be spent cleaning, cooking and the normal household stuff. I am also embarking on the 2010 list that my family made over the weekend. (See prior post that explains the New Year List). This is not a resolution list....it's just a list of things we'd like to do, or see, or learn, experience or attain. No, I will not be working on that tropical vacation that my youngest wants...but I will be doing some yoga...at least I will attemp it. I took my birthday money and bought myself a yoga dvd and will give it a try tomorrow after the kids go to school.....in the privacy of my home,,,,,alone.....where no one can see me....except the dog. Some of the things on my 2010 list incude learning yoga, strengthening my body and learning to relax a bit more. Whatever benefits that come from this dvd will just be a little something extra. I will have begun to cross off this item from my list. I'm excited. I am a little guilt ridden at the moment though...I preview the dvd on my computer, so I could at least be a little familiar with things, but the whole time, I was eating chips. I think that's a big no no with a fitness dvd. Hmmm, well, again, it was in the privacy of my own home with no one watching. Mums the word, ok? Wish me luck and I'll report back if I don't land in traction.
As our family 2010 list grows, it looks like we have a full plate ahead of us. It is fun to read about the things the kids are focussing on. I was also surprised to see that alot of the things they'd like to do are relatively inexpensive....with the exception of that tropical vacation my 1st grader wants to take. He's obsessed with pirates and wants to meet up with Capt. Jack Sparrow, ya know? The boys want to compete in growing pumpkins and sunflowers. This past summer we put in quite a large garden the some of our stuff was just out of control. We had a 12ft sunflower with many more very close to that tall. Also, the pumpkins were great. We certainly got quality rather than quantity with them. It was great fun. Can't wait to start digging in the dirt this spring. Another item on our list is viewing sunsets from Lake Michigan...they are spectacular. Going camping and making smores. Oh, the oldest wants a truck....which is atainable if he keeps working and saving money. Fun stuff, silly stuff and lots of things to look forward to. Can't wait to begin our journey through 2010.....tomorrow it begins with ypga. :) Have a beautiful week.
