Bra colors sweep Facebook in awareness push

Cancer awareness campaign urges users to disclose undergarment color.

updated 1:25 p.m. PT, Fri., Jan. 8, 2010

NEW YORK - If you thought there was enough personal information floating around on Facebook, brace yourself.

This week a campaign apparently designed to raise awareness about breast cancer is sweeping the social networking site with a message asking women to update their status with one simple word: the color of their bra.

Facebook Inc. says it hasn't been able to find out who came up with the idea.

Andrea Rader, a spokeswoman for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation, said the group was not behind the campaign but called it "a terrific tool for raising awareness."

She added, "We just hope people act on it — get educated, get a mammogram."

So quite a few days ago I got a message from one of my friends and then passed it on to all my female facebook friends this is what it read:

Write the color of your bra in your status. Just the color, nothing else. Then send this message on to your female friends, no men... It will be nice to see this spread the wings of cancer awareness. It will also be fun to see how long it takes before the men will wonder why all the girls have a color in their status!!!

Now I normally don't play along on these things but I likes this one and it was for a good cause so I did as did all my friends. Today the guys finally figured out what was going on. Some of them today even joined in on the fun posting the color of their wives/girlfriends bras or writing invisible referring to themselves. LMAO
Then tonight I was informed of this link, how cool is that? Granted i didn't donate millions to the cancer research but it got people talking about breast cancer and a couple people I know did donate because of it =}

Awesome girl! Let's keep it going everyone. I haven't been on facebook for more then maybe 6 months but I have yet to see them do anything to raise awareness about BC even though many of us have asked them to...so we're doing it ourselves.

I've been doing this on facebook too, and it really has spread like wildfire...had quite a few of the guys figure it out and join in.  I'm glad that it is increasing awareness:)

:D  Much love for whoever came up with this idea.  I passed on the message yesterday when it came into my inbox.

Funny thing is the guys on my friends list were freaking out, like "WHY DOES EVERYONE HAVE COLORS FOR THEIR STATUS?!"  It was kinda funny.
