1) Words of the Week challenge- Use January, joy, jumping, jocular, jostle, jet, jaywalker :
Man, it's frigid this new month of January. Should I feel joy to hear another cold front is plummenting our way? Should I be jumping up and down just to feel warmth, as I hear the jocular weatherman tell us how me must bundle up well to go venture outside? Yet I need gas in the car and food in the house. With a disgruntled sigh, I jostle over to the closet and pull out the things I need: mittens, warm coat, thick gloves, a pullover hat, and thick walking boots. And then I go outside, walking across the yard to get to the car. I stand in the cold to scrape off the ice off my windows and heat up the car. The engine is humming loud, like a jet, as it's an old model car, which could have been a great thing to replace during Obama's tradein clunker program, or whatever it was called that I missed out on. Then I drive towards the mall, noting how the very few people walking along the sidewalks, veer into the parking lots so much like a jaywalker, just to get inside faster. Yes, these teen temperatures aren't something we like right now. But don't worry, by mid-summer, we'll be griping about the over 100 temperature days for sure.
2) Topic challenge : It's your first anniversary and the "boys" are over for a televised football game-
What timing! It's my anniversary and instead of visiting some fancy restaurant, we are grubbing in my living room. The food served as a buffet will be a tailgater's dream: hamburgers, chips and dip, bratwurst, devilled eggs, etc, etc, instead of some grand appetizer served up at Applebees. There will be no candles or wine; just light illuminating from the big screen tv and plenty of beer.
Me and hubby won't be alone. Several guys from his office will be hanging around to watch the big game. This isn't what I planned at all, but somehow the Cowboys have managed to keep on playing. They won the NFC East title and are now veering for a spot in the Superbowl. I can just hear them now: all the groans, whoops, and whistles they'll make watching the plays during the game " Go! Go! Go! Yahoo!! Touchdown!!"
Ok, maybe I can pretend they are encouraging my hubby to be on track with our marriage for the year. I know he scored a touchdown winning my heart in the first place. So just this once, i can sacrifice our big day to let him watch the game. It isn't all bad. whenever the Cowboys make a first down, he grabs me tight. When they score, he always ensures I get a fat kiss. Ok, maybe I can play along and be a fan fanatic as well. I know every year, this team can't always be in the running, although they do try. Maybe I'll just put my money away and save to do something really fun next year, far away from the big tv and his silly guy friends. A girl can dream yes?
So for right now, and just this one time, I will be compliant and compromising. I will watch that sexy, hunky Tony Romo give out all the call signs before the snap... and have my own Cowboy fantasy watching him in his tight uniform, move his body around and his behind.. and take a swig of my fancy wine I bought for the occasion. Hmmm, it's a pretty good fantasy at that- His current girlfreind might just watch out for me! :)
