My youngest (10) had a fever and stayed home from school today. But after the doctor visit, when we found she "just has a cold" she was feeling antsy. So instead of going back to bed when we returned home, she deceided to work on this science project, involving creating "something" out of rubber bands.
Well she could not find the scissors to cut open the bag of rubber bands, and used a knife. Needless to say , the knife slipped and she sliced up her finger.
The edges were jagged, but we got the bleedding to stop and wrapped it in gauze and it was fine.
I rewrapped it after her bath and it looks fine, just jagged. Here is my question, when do you take a cut in for stitches? The flesh came open in an inch long slice, rather jagged looking, but it stopped bleeding.
Should I have still taken her to the Emergency Room for a look see? Hubby says no, I did everything correct, but I am still wondering.

as long as the bleeding stopped, she should be fine. Keep it wrapped for a bit, maybe a day or two. PS I'm not a dr, so take the advice as the advice of a child who has had stitches.
