I have had PCOS since I was 16 years old. I have gained weight more and more each year. I have stayed at 216 for a while. When I weighed myself 01-08-10 it said 215.4 

  • 01-12-10  212.5 lbs
  • 01-13-10  211.4 lbs
  • 01-14-10  210.5 lbs

What am I doing differently then before?

  • I do not drink soda's, or sugar added juice
  • I do not eat potatoe's of any kind
  • I do not eat bread or pasta
  • eating lean meats, turkey, chicken skinless
  • eating more veggies, with every meal
  • fat free dressing
  • watching my soduim intake
  • I use more spices now

No depending on food..  we have to eat to survive, saying that I am eating to survive, not because I want to. I pass up all fast food chains, if I think about it I keep drivng. I do not buy quick/easy cooking foods, like microwave food, pizza. When I think about drinking a coke ( sprite) I drink water.

   What I ate this week.

Turkey Chili with red beans, boneless skinless chicken breast, seasoned with ground mustard, poultry seasoning, parsley. cooked in my roaster.  We were going to eat chicken, then I tought up chili, so we had both..

Turkey Tacos with black beans.

I did eat bread this week, a double fiber, whole grain whole wheat bread, with my turkey burger, fat free mayo, no cheese.  I mixed poultry seasoning, ground mustard, and minced garlic in the turkey burgers before cooking with e.v olive oil.

For breakfasts, when i remember to eat I have had oatmeal with honey, no salt, salt. Once I put cinnomine with it, its good for your blood sugar.

I've eaten beans for breakfast too..  lol  its high in protein

lunch, I have salad. I think I went one day without lunch.

most every morning I drink apple cider vinager. About 2 table spoons, I take a swig out the bottle. If you can't handle the taste, put it in a glass of water.

11.5 lbs to go and i will be under 200 lbs YAY!!  I pray I pray!!

I need to start working out too..  I plan on going to the mall today and walking it for a little while.

  Update,  I ate a salad for breakfast =) I was very pleased with it too.  Then for lunch I ate a chicken mushroom half sandwich. Before I made it I thought I should just put this chicken on a salad. Eh what the heck, I will just use one piece of the double fiber, muli grain wheat bread. BAD IDEA! I feel like crap now.. I should have listened to myself, just eat the green salad with the chicken. I am going to put the bread in the freezer =) It will be there when needed. I will not eat any more bread, at least for a long while. Even if its a healther bread.  Bread does not like me..

  I am sticking with lean meats, green salad my funcky dressing which is more healthy then any store bought kind. Drink only water, which I do, I always have a glass of water beside me. When i feel hungry but know its from bordom, I drink it. 

  Funky salad dressing. I drizzle olive oil over the green salad, sprinkle a lil Ms. Dash (I don't do the dash all the time, just once in a while to change it up). I do always put parsly and italian seasoning, drizzy a fat free italian dressing and add some garlic, I use minced, its whats in the pantry.  

  Oh and I am not eating when I feel hungry, just when its time to eat. I want to be in control of this..  And I am..

 Someone posted about the weight I am losing is water weight. I had no idea what that meant, it did discourage me a little bit. BUT, losing water weight is not a bad thing, I now know this.

If you are carrying around extra water weight, your legs, ankles, wrists, feet and hands may swell. Water retention is caused by several factors. You may not be eating a healthy diet or drinking enough water, it could be a side effect of medications or even a serious medical condition. Try the following steps to lose water weight.

Ask your doctor to see if there are different prescriptions for what you may be taking that are causing you to gain extra water weight. Medicines such as steroids or estrogen replacement hormones can cause water retention.

    Increase your activity level. Exercises such as bike riding, tennis, walking or running can help your body get rid of excess water in your legs and ankles.

  • Step 7

    Visit your doctor if you continue to retain water, especially if you are retaining water no matter what you do. There may be an underlying health issue that needs to be addressed.

  • Tips & Warnings
    • You should be drinking enough water so that you rarely feel thirsty, at least eight glasses of fluid per day, and are producing one to two liters of light yellow urine a day. Dark yellow could represent dehydration.
    • Drinking less water will not get rid of water weight, instead it will make it worse.
    • If you are pregnant and start retaining an excessive amount of water, see your doctor immediately.
    • Don't drink caffeine as a diuretic, even though it will help you lose water weight, because it can cause you to become dehydrated. Use water as a diuretic as you will never become dehydrated drinking water.

    At this rate I am losing a pound a day. Got to love water =) if not, you can squeeze a lemon, lime or orange into your water, you can even use Crystal Light. Its much better for you  than sodas.

    Wow that is great! I am real glad you have posted this! I have PCOS too and it flat out sucks! But I really wanna try all that you put up here! You give me hope!

    Way to go!!!  I was dx with PCOS after thyroid cancer surg.  I changed my diet and lost some weight. Felt great!

    Then later the doc same office different doc said it was not PCOS but an issue with my adrenal gland.

    Thank you ladies.. for those who are trying to lose weight how is it going ? I fell off the wagon. But I have kept up with no sodas, no fried foods, less bread, no potatoes, I tried eating some the other day and it made me ill. I use to love French Fries now they taste gross. Same with sprites or 7ups, its so nasty to me now. I still drink mostly water, some juices once in a while with no sugar added.

    I weighed myself today, I so did not want to.. 06-09-2010  I weigh 204.5

    I am going to start a new diet.. I will post it up ..  a new friend sent it to me Thanks =)

    btw the problem I have been having is not eating enough meals a day. I have been so busy with foster son and a bit emotional with the adoption. But.. I haven't gained weight and I am very happy about that.

      I still follow the diet above, but with not eating when I am suppose to it has causes me to eat more during lunch or dinner. And during the days I am in starvation mode. Thats so not good..  I have t get it together.. I will share everything I do for the next month. And how it is working for me.  Thank you for following me on this and I wish everyone the very best.. even if you fall off the wagon.. You know what the right food is and the wrong food is, just stick with it even if you fall.. Things I do not miss at all.. Potatoes of any kind.. Sodas or any kind, even though I only drank sprites and 7 ups, I do not miss them. I do wonder why I did drink them, yuck. I do not miss fast foods, blah! I know if I ate from Ms D's I would puke.. When you go from eating healthier for so long and no badness.. when you do eat the bad stuff its what it is bad Blah!

       We can do this.. we have the rest of our lives to live and we want to do it looking good!
