My son who is 4. Has been complaining about his ears. He says he can't hear out of them and that they sometimes hurt. We have been to the Dr. a few times this fall and they are rarely infected but are always full of fluid. He said that they could rupture from this and that he has to go to the ENT.
NOw mind you this is nothing new for us. He had his first set of tubes put in when he was 14months old and the "baloon" surgery done on his eyes when he was 2 yrs old. He has never really had alot of trouble since then so this has really come out of left field for us. He has had the occasional ear infection since his tubes fell out. But I guess he has had more of them in the last year. But now it is not infections it is just ALOT of fluid.
I am concerned for him. Partly because I am afraid this is going to affect his hearing..or his ear drums might rupture. He is always talking really loud or yelling because he is having trouble hearing. (It was not always like this, just recently)He is also not hearing correctly. He will laugh at me and ask why I am saying such funny things. ei I say pocket he is hearing locket. He has also not been himself which makes me worry something else might be wrong. He cries at the drop of a hat, the melting in the floor kind of crying, like he just can't handle not getting his way ( this is not at all like my son, he is very happy go lucky and very easy going) he is sleeping more than usual. 12-13 hours at night and will take a 3-4 hr nap if i let him.. He has always been a good sleeper but not this much. He has allergies and takes meds for them and he is fair complected, so when he is tired around his eyes get black (racoon eyes) Well his eyes are so black lately that the bridge of his nose even looks a little black. It is not from a bruise it is from all of this that is going on.
It concerns me. That it has just come on all at once. It makes me wonder if it isn't something else going on. Has anyone else had this prob with their kids?
Any input and extra prayers would be great! Thanks!
Comments:
He was palying in the living room the other morning and spun around once being silly. Then he grabbed his head and knelt to the floor. He started crying. He was scarred. He had gotten dizzy and thought he was going to fall down. Tomorow can't come fast enough.

My daughter had So many problems with her ears; she had (5) sets of tubes in by the time she was 7- The fluid would build up & push them out, then she had her tonsils & adenoids out at 9 and her eardrum ruptured quite a few times- when she was in 6th grade she said she was having a hard time hearing, i wasn't that worried b/c it had happened in the past with the fluid build up- when the ent did a hearing test she was only hearing 20% out of one ear & 60% out of the other- I was really freaking out! This time not only was the fluid built up, she also had a tumor behind her eardrum- after they removed the tumor they had to rebuild her eardrum- It was a 7hour operation- the bones in your ears are so tiny- after all of this, she has had very few problems with her ears- She will be 24 this month- Your son is probably not being himself b/c he is just not feeling good- the fluid build up causes your equilibrium to be off & he is probably feeling dizzy- He probably feels like he has water in his ear & i'm sure you know that by it self can make you feel terrible- He most likely just needs the fluid drained & maybe a new set of tubes- Wishing you lots of luck at the ent & i hope your little man feels better very soon!
