My name is Nora and I'm a mother of two boys ages 5 and 3 yrs old when my oldest some was born he was he was about 7 weeks early but healthy he was ahead in the beginging he started walking at 9months old riding a bike at 1 1/2 but then around 2 we notcied we still hadn't heard him talk and he was very hyper all the time so we took him to a doctor hear where we live who diagnosed him with ADHD and started treating him with tenex to calm him down it worked for a little while and from there his meds were changed way to much. After we started with the medication we went to speech therapy and started getting help on that end for him he was 3 1/2 yrs old before he started talking but it was so slurred we couldn't understand it and that made thing's worse because he would get so angry and upset because we couldn't understand what he was trying to tell us....shortly after his med's were changed for the 12th time he was visiting his dad in conrad mt and was running through the kitchen out of control cause the meds were not working and he fell with his leg under him and broke it and that still didnt stop him he crawled around and continued to be hyper which amazed me because i know that a broken leg hell a broken anything hurts.....

he started riding a bike with no training wheel's at the age of 3....he started prechool at 4 yrs old and was doing good but still having problem's with medication so again change by the same doctor for god the 15th time i think....which at that time we started resperidol which yes it works but boy oh boy watch out he was on that medication for 4 months and went from a skinny 3 1/2 yr old to a 85lb 3 1/2 yr old in a matter of month's it was horable i made the doctor find something else because I couldnt stop him from gorging food and I couldnt tell a kid that was screaming that he was still hungry no what mom can.....

At 4 yrs old Anthony decided it would be funny to run outta the house before everyone else as we were getting ready to leave for the day when we got out side his dad starting looking for him as i loaded the baby in the car then started to help look for anthony we were walking around the inside and the outside looking for him screaming his name and we got no answer so his dad started walking one way and i was going to drive the other since the baby was in the car....Not knowing what was about to happen i put the car in drive and pulled forward....to my shock I drove over an unusal bump and i stopped the car put it in park and ran to the back of my car and found my son laying on the ground and i started to scream and his dad came running as we called 911 he was hiding under my car and i ran over my son I was so scared that I was going to lose him I couldn't think all i could do was hold him and cry. He suffered a broken pelvic bone  but other than that he was just fine.....after that we started getting second opinions on our sons issues....

He was diagnosed with ADHD,Bi-polar,OCD,speech delays, learning disabilities, frontal lobe damage and mentally he is only 3 1/2 yrs old right now when physically he is almost 6 yrs of age....

Anyway this last summer was another bad one very hard on everyone....we couldn't find a medication to work we had tried so many we were lost we had just recently moved to billings montana and anthony was acting weird at that time he was taking clonodine, strattera, andGeodon .....

Anthony started getting all of these little red sore's all over his body we didnt know what was causing it but we knew something was going on so we took him to his pediatrition who said it looked like a rare reaction to a bug bite so we started with a medicated cream and after 5 weeks they were not going away they were getting worse ....

Then even worse things started to happen anthony started to become so violent that he was scaring adult's with his action's he would pick up heavy objects like end tables, bikes and throw them at who ever made him mad soon it wne to everything like dvd players tv's games movies book's you name it he broke it and threw it....then came the final straw when we knew something was really wrong we were all outside and the kid's were playing in the pool and they had been fighting off and on as siblings do and we heard water splashing and we turned to see what was going on and Anthony at 5 yrs old was holding his 2 1/2 yr old brothers head under the water trying to drowned him when you ask him why he says he was mad and thats all we ever got out of him about it...but thats when we realized we needed more help for our son that something was wrong....

So we took him to Shodair childrens hospital in helena montana to get stabalized and healthy we then moved back to missoula montana so we could be closer to our son and didnt have to travel that far to be with him...

He stayed there for about 4 months and is now home doing much better he dropped all the weight he gained from the rotten medications he was on he went from 86lbs to 62lbs and looks great im so proud of him for being tough and getting better.....just working on the bedtime meds now Sending my baby away was the hardest decision I have ever had to make and I wouldnt wish it on anyone....any way thats my story on my oldest son I will post my youngest sons story later its simple and not as terrible....I am adding this now a couple hours after posting.....I forgot to add to all the parents out there to be careful when letting a doctor medicate your child research the medication first my son was very sick due to the clodine that he was on for months he was on to high of a dose and it messed up his heart if he wouldve ontinued to take the medication he wouldve had a heart attack at 5 years old and that would've destroyed more live's then one....those sore's that were all over his body were caused by an allergic reaction to the clonodine and its very rare but it dose happen when the medication is to high he was on a total of 12mg a day of clonodine,120 mg of geodon and 160mg of strattera and that's more than an adult should be on according to the new doctors it was a lethal dose and he couldve died if it was continued....the doctor's we take our children too are supposed to help them not kill them and make them worse when choosing a doctor for you kids make sure you get all the information you can....make sure they actually pay attention to your kid's and their behaviors and dont just say yes he has this 3 mins after you walk in the door.....the doctor that almost killed my son works in missoula montana I cant put his name on here just for the risk of being sued for saying the things i have said but if you live here in the area and need help with your kids i will tell you his name so you dont go through the same crap and i can also reccomened a great dr and nurospych if you need further testing done on your child and you can also contact jefferson preschool they will do testing for you to if your child is under kindergarden age and can even go to school there after testing is complete its a  great place and they do alot of good at that school any way good luck in your search i will be taking my youngest there in about 30 mins to complete his testing and enrollment.......if you need to talk send me a message im on here daily im addicted to cafe moms!

I found your post very familiar. My son who is 9 now was also diagnosed at an early age adhd/bipolar. Then the diagnoses changed as he got older. He was on so many meds as a toddler it was ridiculous. Anyhow. Glad to know that I am definitely not the only parent out there that has a son w/ the diagnosis. He is now off all meds and we deal with what comes next as it arrives. Anyhow.. ever want to talk, let me know. :)

OMG!  I can't believe you still have your sanity. WOW! God Bless you!!!!!! I'm glad to hear that your oldest son is finally off the medications and is doing well. My son, unfortunately is still being medicated. He is doing fine ( god Bless ) but I can only hope to god that one day soon we can get him off the med's and go natural. I'm still sticky with the bio-medical way and keeping him on the Gluten / Casein free diet. I refuse to give up my hope to allow my son to live a happy and HEALTHY DRUG FREE life.  I'm glad that I met you ( at least through Cafe Mom ) and I would love to keep in touch. Please feel free to drop me a note whenever you feel the need to reach out. I too am here for youhugging
