Like many women in January I set out on a mission to loose this weight. I did my research about healthy eating and exercise, calories and what makes for a successful weight loss plan.

12 years ago i was a new mom 60 pounds heavier than I started at and tried diet pills, it was the worst experience of my life. I vowed never again to use them and never have.

This time around I changed the way my family eats after all my overall goal was to eat healthy and to make sure my family was learning to make healthier choices as well. I joined the gym and learned about proper exercise and after 2 weeks I was 8 pounds lighter :) I was so happy that I had done it and my hard work had paid off.

Now here is the diet pill thing that is bothering me, I keep seeing post after post after post all titled "what is a good diet pill" "how can i loose weight fast" Ladies YOU CANNOT LOOSE WEIGHT FAST! Please believe me when i say I feel your pain I truly do. Once upon a time I was a tall 130 pound size 5 and sometimes a 9 depending on brands.

Now I am a 18 who started January off at 213 pounds! today i am 203 in almost 3 weeks of work and healthy eating I dropped 10 pounds. I notice that my body is becoming toned, I have energy, I feel good.

Diet pills will NOT give you that, instead you will have side effects, the shakes, and then when you stop taking them if they haven't caused major issues for your body already, the weight will come back.

Do not risk your life, your health, and your well being to hurry up weight loss. Take care of yourselves and do it the right way, be healthy, and develop better life habits. If you don't change how you treat your body then you will never change your body.

I don't want to hurt anyones feelings I just do not want to see women hurt themselves so they can look good, I would rather see women take on the challenge of developing a healthy attitude and lifestyle and make a real change in their lives, a lasting change, a change they can be proud of and know that it was all worth it.

This is a great message.  People forget that it took time to get the weight on, it takes time to get the weight off.

I'm walking that path myself.  Making time to exercise and trying to make better, and more healthy, food choices.

TY Kristie I am so happy too, I cant believe I have actually made it this far and I am sticking to it :) I wish you could go to zumba with me you would love it! How late do you have daycare anyhow? lol I can get you a free pass to try the class out once :)

TY Myantek I am just hoping that people stop looking for a quick fix, I actually saw 3 more post this morning about diet pills and quick weight loss. It is so scary, if people looked as hard for a good meal plan as they do for a diet pill they would be on their way to a healthier body.

Sorry this has become my new pet peeve lol.

Excellent post. It should also be noted that counterfeit versions of Alli are being sold on the internet.

You're right, most diet pills do have side effects but the main problem with pills is people taken them and not changing their eating habits/lifestyle. The disclaimer in just about every pill you see on a GNC counter would tell you to take it as an addition to diet and exercise. Also, the reason the weight comes back is not really because one gets off the pills, it's because many people go back to their old habits, resulting in "yo yo dieting."

I was in the same boat as you after I had my twins. I went from a sizer 13/14 and weighing 154 to 214 lbs and a size 16 and sometimes 18 depending the brand of clothing. Though I took supplements to help me lose weight, I have changed my overall lifestyle and I was able to keep the weight off.

What was frightening to see for me today was an extremely skinny woman at Wal-Mart looking at Alli diet pills.  This is a woman that probably has body image issues and definitely did not need to be looking at ANY kind of weightloss product.

I am slowly working on losing weight.  I'm trying to walk (no money for the gym), do the Wii Fit, and am cutting down on my portions. But I don't have body image issues.  I love who I am, I am loved by my husband and children for who I am.  I am doing this because I want to get healthier.

What a BEAUTIFUL and ENCOURAGING post!  I too have changed my eating habbits to healthier options and am losing weight.  I think my biggest problem is OVER EATING!  I eat when I'm bored and that is SO bad, Ladies!  Ugh!  But, I'm working on that too.  Now I just need to get my butt out of the house and exercise on a regular basis and I think I'll be well on my way.  CONGRATS TO THE POSTER for your AWESOME weight loss and lifestyle change!  I wish you all the best and success!  :)  God Bless!
