i know a lot of my friends here have already sent monetary donations to haiti. with the rainy season just around the corner, and mosquitoes always a problem in haiti, the hundreds of thousands of homeless earthquake victims are now in need of shelter. i have an old tent. i want to send it. i am looking for a way to do this! here is one site i found, a group in boston who is going to be making a shipment of tents to haiti on february 12th
tents to haiti info and address
i am still on the search for something based in the northwest, where i am, but thought i would post this for any of my northeast mamas to use. and i will ship mine to boston if i have to! if anyone knows of how one goes about arranging a container shipment, let's chat!

Hello! I am new here. I am a full time nanny to a wonderful 4 year old, and thought this group could be beneficial to me, though he is not my own.
ALSO: I am executive Director of a small incorporated non profit organization called Foundation for Helping the Poor in Haiti.
We are very small and work at the grass roots level.
I have a trip planned to go to Haiti for Feb 25.
I am seeking donated tents to bring with me for these beautiful people.
Check out the website: www.helpingthepoorinhaiti.org
Blessings!
just wanted to update some other locations/groups where tents are being donated for haiti.
a group in georgia:

Ketchum ID 83340
Florida:

Colorado:

Arizona REI stores (both Paradise Valley and Tempe) are supposedly collecting/sending tents.
Michigan- the previous poster on this journal post (see blog link) is here (though not sure what her schedule looks like for future trips- get in touch if you can though she may be in haiti now.):
3100 Trilogy Rd
Milford, Mi 48381
finally for west coast peeps- i'm looking into a post i saw by someone who runs a club called Active 20-30 who sounded interested in having their locations (all around the west) become drop-off locations for tents, which could then easily get to their site in the Dominican Republic and then of course Haiti. I'll let you know more as I hear it, this is the link to that group:
http://www.active20-30.com/index.cfm?page=findaclub
i'm hoping this one pans out, because i live 2 hours from one of their clubs and could load up my car... would be much easier than trying to arrange a container shipment lol. any other ideas/locations please post!
