I had a $5 off $30 for CVS that was expiring today, so I went to the store to use it. I am out of cash for the month (get paid on Friday), and didn't want to draw any more unexpected money from the account, but have a prescription to fill and a coupon for a $25 CVS giftcard when you fill a prescription, and $6 ECB in my wallet, so I though I was golden.
I realized the first flaw in my plan as I drove there: I would have to buy the prescription first, separately. It would cost the $5 co-pay, and that would have to come out of the account. Still not a bad plan.
Then I arrived and went to the pharmacy to put in my prescription and shop while I waited for it. Well, I didn't have it with me. Still haven't found it. Just hope it's not lost! So I decided to go ahead and just spend the $25 from the account so my coupons wouldn't expire. Here's what I got:
- 1 Skippy Peanut Butter $1.67 (was 3/$5, but that was the last one, so I got a rain check too, but need to buy 5 more of them by Saturday to get the $3 ECB offer)
- 2 Clorox Wipes @ 2/$5
- 2 Raisin Bran @ 2/$4 -$1.50 coupon
- Gillette Men's Conditioner $1.25 (on clearance)
- 2 CVS Tissue @ $0.89 each (I actually only picked up 1, but she rang it up twice so I just took another box)
- 1 Milk @ $2.79 (I hated paying so much for milk, but my Dad insisted we couldn't last until Friday with what we had left... I'll explain to him another time about how we would usually go without for a day or two if we had to so we can make it to payday within our budget)
- 1 Electrasol Powertabs @ $3.99
- 1 Colgate Toothpast @ $2.99 w/$2 ECB
- 1 Bioluxe Shampoo @ 9.99 w/$9.99MIR offer (I got this once before, so may have to "borrow" someone else's address to get it)
- 1 Bioluxe Conditioner BOGO
Minus my $5 off $30 and my total came to $29.03 with $2 ECB recieved. I completely forgot to use my $6 ECBs that were already in my wallet, so now I have $8 ECB for my next trip, which now has to be before the 15th so they don't expire. I consider this trip to be "ehh" on the scale of frugalness. I got a couple of really good deals (Raisin Bran for $1.25/box, Free Shampoo and Conditioner, Toothpaste for $0.99) but the rest was only so-so. I will be going to another CVS or 2 to see if I can get the 5 more Skippys for my $3 ECB and the Men's Body Wash they were sold out of that is supposed to be free after ECBs.
