The great snow storm of DC has been all over the news. It is really cool, because we're living it. :-) Though there are many that have been hit hard and are in dangerous situations (fingers crosses, prayers and good vibes should be sent their way) my family is lucky enough to be in awe and enjoy what we're experiencing.
The snow began at our house just at 9:30 am on February 5th. 24 hours later, I fashioned a home made marking stick and stuck it outside of my backdoor. :-) Please note, this is out of my back door- I opened door, inserted stick at arm's length and took picture. No walking necessary. :-)

A bit later I had to clear off the entry of said area so the dog would have a place to potty... I moved the stick back a couple of feet- This was 3 hours later... (note the next number there is 27")

It has been snowing non-stop since 9:30 am on the 5th- and they do not expect it to stop until sometime on the 7th. Really, I need a bigger stick!
More pics-
This was taken on the 4th. I've been trying to get a nice picture of that cardinal that hangs out on the brush pile... one day, I'll get a great one of him. :-)

This is the same area, after 24 hours of snow!

My car...

The swing set...

I can only imagine what another 24 hours is going to bring us! Good luck to all my fellow Virginians and DC residents (Marylanders too!). My hopes are with you all.
The aftermath!

Comments:
We are in Maryland, and the snow has hit us hard. I would not even attempt to move my car...lol. God only know how long this will last, and how long it will take to finally be able to get out. Then watching the news says another snow expected on Tuesday or Wednesday, and I am not sure of how bad that will be although at this point even one inch would be too much...lol. I hope they close things on Monday because it it just way too dangerous to think about driving. Staying inside keeping warm and enjoy family time. Of course my little one is waiting to make snow angels, and build Frosty the snowman...lol
LOL Angie
That is beautiful Carmy. I know it must suck to be stuck inside but wow. I have never seen that much snow in my life and I have been to Alaska.
WOW!!! We used to live in Leesburg. My son is sooooo jealous of all of your snow!! Hope you guys have fun and stay warm. LOL, I can't imagine trying to take out dogs out in that!
I live Baltimore,MD and your right, Baltimore might have gotten as much snow as you got in D.C. It looked so beautiful when it was falling like something out of a fairy tale or something. Hope things work in your favor.
Being from the Northeast, upstate NY, this would be a typical winter for us. However, with all the cold air from Canada push down on us, we are fortunate to have kept those storms from coming up to us.
Enjoy the warm cozy inside, hope no power goes out, and Beautiful pictures for the memories!!
