I try all the time on the weekends when the kids are home to have some sort of family time. I have several games from cards to DVD games. I only have 2 of my 4 daughters living with me. The oldest is 16 and the youngest 14.Nicky (16) doesn'tlike games, her religious beliefs are steadfast and i encourage their faiths. She doesn't watch or read anything that goes against Christianity. However she does enjoy watching Nascar with her dad, playing online and talking with her friends and family. My other daughter Courtney (14), Sometimes i think that she was born with a phone to her ear and a computer to her hands. She loves scary movies( when she was 3 she wouldn't go to sleep unless she got to watch the movie IT by Steven King), the phone and texting(what teenage girl doesn't)playing cards, and some of the DVD games once in a great while, hanging with her friends at the skating rink. My husband and i both love horror movies, action movies and sometimes drama (for him its sometimes, give me Lifetime and i am happy). But it seems that whenever we try to get some movies to watch with them they seem to retreat back to their rooms. Now i feel like the only time we can spend time together (since money is tight) is when we sit down to dinner together or if we are all in the same room but each doing our own thing. Like right now i am at my computer, Nicky is on the kids computer and Courtney is on the floor watching the movie Halloween. and my husband is in bed. I don't mean to seem ungrateful that they are here with us, but i wish i could find a common ground so that we all have some fun. Ideas would be wonderful if you could post them maybe my family could come to enjoy some good wholesome family time together.
