Rum Cake
4 cups cake flour
2 tsps Baking powder
5 eggs
1/2 cup Rum
1 cup milk
2 tsps vanilla extract
2 cups sugar
1 cup butter (2 sticks)
1 cup Shortening
Glaze:(heat all the ingredients in a pot until the sugar is dissolved)
1 stick of butter
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup rum
In a medium bowl mix the flour with the baking soda (this will be your flour mix). In a measuring cup mix the rum, vanilla, and milk (this will be you liquid mix). Cream together the butter, shortening and the sugar in a mixer. After the sugar is creamed alternate adding the flour mixture, the liquid mixture, and the eggs until all the ingredients are completely mixed. Spray a bundt cake pan with butter or baking spray. Pour the cake batter into the pan. Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 40-50 mins. Pour the glaze on once the cake has cooled.
