YLEOils and You!

natural health & nutrition, clean green

As I've been dabbling in and studying the chemistry of essential oils I've come across some fasinating discoveries about Frankinsence and how it's gotten some great medical properties to it. When the resin is steam distilled at just the right temperature, and it's been harvested at just the right time it has such awesome medicinal uses! It's like a miracle oil :) Which is maybe why it was given to the baby Jesus. Here's an article that was brought to my attention that got me to write about this - I'm so glad that people are at least starting to understand the medicinal purposes of our plant world, something we need to get back to!  :)  http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/8505251.stm

Historical Data: Frankincense is also known as "olibanum," or Oil from Lebanon the name Frankincense is derived from teh Medieval French word for "real incense." Frankincense is considered the "holy annointing oil" in the Middle East and has been used in religious ceremonies for thousands of years. It was well known during the time of Christ for its anointing and healing powers and was one of the gifts given to Christ at His birth. "Used to treat every conceivable ill known to man," frankincense was valued more than gold during ancient times, and only those with great wealth and abundance possessed it. It is mentioned in one of the oldest known medical records, Ebers Papyrus (dating from teh 16th century B.C.) an ancient egyptian list of 877 prescriptions and recipes. There are also over 52 references  to frankincense (considering that "incense" is translated from teh Hebrew/Greek "frankincense" and is referring to the saem oil).

Some of Franincense Medical Properties are: Antitumoral, immunostimulant, antidepressant, muscle relaxing

It's USES are: Depression, cancer, respiratory infections, inflammation & immune-stimulating.

Fragrant Influence: Increased spiritual awareness, promotes meditation, improves attitude and uplifts spirits.

Frankincense contains sesquiterpenes which stimulate the limbic system of the brain (the center of memory and emotions) and the hypothalalmus, pineal and pituitary glands. The hypothalamus is the master gland of the human body, producing many vital hormones including thyroid and growth hormone.

My own daughter has been off of her Bi-polar/Manic Depressive meds for 3.5 years and she uses Frankincense from Young Living Essential Oils. She was going through liver failure on conventional meds so we yanked her off of them. Not something I woudl suggest. Why Young Living Oils? Because I know for a fact that their oils are pure with no additives in them! Making them the only oils safe for medicinal use. These oils actually have a dietary supplement chart on them - which means that  they are the only ones approved for "internal" use in the United States! So if your ingesting it, inhaling it, or putting it on your skin - it better be for internal use as that's where it's going! And if your taking essential oils for a "healthier" reason - make sure you get the right ones! If it says not for internal use on the label - then that means that it has toxic stuff in it and  you should'nt be using it. Young Living essential Oils go beyond what AFNOR asks them to. In fact there may be new, higher standards coming out for the AFNOR due to in part of what Young Living's founder Gary Young, has done. There are no standards for essential oils here in the United States. We go by Europes/France's AFNOR currently.  If you want to know more, please feel free to contact me by e-mail. I'd be more than happy to spread the knowledge as.... knowledge is power! :)
