This journal is in response to the movie Zeitgeist, so I will post it here so you can watch it and know what I'm talking about (otherwise the rest of the journal probably won't make sense.)

Part Two

Part Three

The rise in atheism and overall non-religious thought seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel (for non-religious people anyway...to others, it is evil).  Possibly an end to this repeating cycle of similar mythological stories?  Maybe we have finally begun to evolve away from this need to separate our egos from ourselves and put them in the sky? (Which is what I hypothesize "God" is...the fact that people can't understand their inner-termoil, so they accuse an outward force of manipulating them either for good or bad.)

On the other hand, maybe this is the same thing that happens at the end of every age.  More and more people start to realize they don't have to adhere to such a belief that is ancient and unprovable.  The longer the myth goes on, the more people naturally question it.  Our intelligence reaches a peek (I wrote a journal about this), our technology reaches a peak.....and then it has to fall again.  Most people like to think human intelligence has evolved on a gradual incline, but what if that's not so?  What if it goes in waves?  There are lots of ancient ruins and art that scientists cannot explain because of the assumption that ancient people were less intelligent than us.  What if they were not?  What if they came to a peek of intelligence at the time when these things were created?  Even the idea of multiculturalism and living together in harmony is not a new thing.  It happened in Egypt and Rome......and both ended up falling.  People started becoming more tolerant, living together instead of fighting, having technology that surpassed anything anyone had ever seen before.....and then it came to a peek and crashed again.  Maybe our society is going the same way.  We are at our peek (or maybe have already passed it), we will realize we don't need religion, we will live in harmony and maybe we will be without religion for so long that we will stop thinking about it.  There will be people who have no religion just because everyone else does without any thought put into it.  The idea of being against religion will fade because it will be so rare......and it will open up an opportunity for a new age...and a new messiah myth.  People will believe it because they have never known the concept of questioning religion.  And the whole cycle will start again.  You cannot deny, just by looking around, that intelligence is NOT being favored by evolution.  People are regressing.  Less intelligence equals more children, and ability to reproduce is what gets passed on.  Look at our industry, our art, our music, our architecture...it is all much more simplistic as time goes on.  Classical music used to be popular...now the most popular music only takes an electronic keyboard and some vocal effects to create.  People used to build elaborate castles....now they settle for the cheapest and most simplistic way to construct a building.  Look at all the skyscrapers that are simply rectangles.  Look at the fall in quality of products just in the last few decades!  Cars used to last for years, now they are pretty much built to fail.

There will always be intelligent people who will not go along with this process after our peek starts to fall, but intelligence is ostracized by religious beliefs, so these people will not be listened to...or, just like in the past, even killed.  The virtue of humility causes this.  It is SO ingrained in us that people find intelligence threatening and arrogant (some of you might even be thinking this of what I'm saying right now!  ...which is only proof of my point).  Scientists of today, who have made countless discoveries that lay-people depend on, were the kids of yesterday who were shoved in lockers, bullied, and tricked into doing the popular kids' homework for them.  And when any of these scientists, as adults, claim a new discovery, an emotion or "alternate agenda" is immediately attached to it so that lay-people can dismiss the discovery as bias and untrue.  The virtue of humility has kept society down because people who know things are not allowed to speak up for fear of being seen as arrogant or not politically correct.  Instead of people being fascinated by new discovery, they attack its source, and keep it from being believed for long periods of time. (Look at all the scientists in history who were jailed or killed for discovery that was proven correct MUCH later)  Think how far ahead we could be in our discovery if people could just be open to every possibility that they are shown.  Think if Darwin had not been put down as "anti-God" and would have been free to explore his studies publicly and without scorn!  Evolution could have been accepted LONG ago and who knows where we'd be now?  This is why I hate the virtue of humility.  Not because I'm arrogant or egotistical as most would accuse me of...but because I can see how it has destroyed so much and held us back.  Even I find it very hard not to be humble because of the extreme fear society has put in me not to break that barrier.  I see the barrier though, most don't even realize it.

Even the prophecy of 2012 is part of this.  Religious people believe it might be the end of the world, the rapture, or whatever their specific religion dictates will cause the end.  The Mayans, however, who created the famous calendar that many believe predicts the end, don't even believe in the "end of the world".  They believe the end of the calendar is the end of a way of thought so-to-speak.  The end of an AGE (as in the video)??  And look at the specific date...DECEMBER 21...so close to December 25th, the day that SO many messiahs in history were "born".  Maybe a new myth will be devoloped and this date will be the main character's supposed birthdate!  Of course, the new sacred text will not be created until much later, as was the case with the bible, because this event will NOT ACTUALLY HAPPEN, it will just be talked about hundreds of years later.

I am mildly autistic.  One of my "symptoms" is that I notice patterns in things.  I notice this pattern...and I'm called "disabled" because of it.  ...........Coincidence???

I liked your post.  You see a lot very clearly.  I'd be interested in the patterns you might discover if you studied the bible (not to say you haven't, I have no idea, but yours is a perspective I'd like to know).

I have some thoughts on the patterns you see...but I want to sleep on it so I don't show TOO much crazy in one post!

Thanks, I'm glad I read it!

I really haven't read the bible.  I was raised Catholic, but I just didn't believe most of it as a kid and was so bored to death in CCD class that my mom tooke me out because I wasn't learning anything.  I also have a hard time reading things like the bible, the way its worded.  I have to keep re-reading sentences to figure out the meaning.  I have a really hard time reading scripture when its posted in RR.

Besides that, (not to insult you or anything) but if i do read parts of it, it is honestly just so ridiculous to me that I can't make myself go on.
