Ok, before you put me to the firing squad... I just wanted to get your attention.
Have you ever read the book: Three Cups of Tea by Greg Morenson and David Oliver Relin? If you haven't you should.
I became interested in the plight of uneducated females after being introduced to Sisters in Service, which is an organization that works with local peoples in impoverished areas of the world to make education for females (amongst other services) pos This idea was underscored in the book Three Cups... and accorting to Mortenson is the cure (education for all, but especial girls) for what a ails these impoverished, or war torn areas.
So, at the risk of irritating you with my title, I challenge you to check out this book from your library and judge for yourself whether the claim that educating those who lack it, will bring a more hopeful future for all.
