From Kennedy's CaringBridge journal:

Kennedy enjoyed her family coming to see her.  She was bright eyed and alert.  The girls were happy they were able to take a closer look at Kennedy, they still are not allowed to hold or touch her.   We don't want her to catch anything that would post-pone her surgery.  We should have a better idea of when the surgery will be early next week.  Overall her day went well.  We give praises to God the fever has stayed away and her oxygen level continues to be good.  It is running about 95 now.  They want it to be 93 or higher.  She did start loosing her color this evening, we will keep an eye on that throughout the night.  We pray that the antibiotics continue to do their job with no side effects, we pray she will eat better without getting worn out and that God will give the doctors wisdom in when to do the surgery.

Giving God the glory,

Jeff, Kathy and girls

From Kennedy's CaringBridge journal:

Last night went well.  She is less interested in nursing since early a.m.  Today we need prayer specifically for a cough Kennedy has developed.  This morning it seems to be more than choking on spit up.  I let the charge nurse know, she said call her when Kennedy is coughing so she can hear.  The only problem is she stops coughing before I can even get the nurse button pushed.  We pray for protection over Kennedy, that she does not catch anything we didn't come in the hospital with.  We pray that God will heal the cough she has whatever the cause is.

Keep the prayers coming!

Love

From my sister, from the new CaringBridge page she started:

Kennedy made it through her first night without oxygen.  She did great today.  She nursed every 2 hours.  She did not get worn out as quickly nursing.  She did have her IV redone.  This time we knew who to call, Robert on the IV team.  He was able to get it in on the first try again.  I am sure Kennedy was happy for that.  Mommy was too.  She has smiled alot for mommy today.  Even if it was in her sleep, mommy enjoyed it.  :) Kennedy is out of isolation so her sisters will get to come in the room to visit.  We look forward to another good day tomorrow.  Big sisters and Grandma are coming.  Daddy comes everyday for lunch and the evenings.  Kennedy recognizes his voice and turns to see him.

We have enjoyed reading the guestbook.  May God bless all who are praying for Kennedy.

Love,

Jeff, Kathy and girls

From my sister, from the new CaringBridge page she started (see previous post, under this one):

We are praising God the fever is gone today.  They also slowly weaned her back off the oxygen.  Her oxygen levels drop every once in while but bounce right back up.  She still has a visible rash.  It seems to show more at some moments and less at others.  They are keeping an eye on it.  She has not nursed very well today.
The plan of action continues to be- two IV antibiotics for 10-14 days, at the 10 day mark they will revisit when to do the surgery and will continue to keep an eye on the rash.  (They think the rash is more related to the rough blanket or detergent rather than the antibiotics.)
My mom continues to care for the girls this week and my older sister is planning on coming next week.

We are grateful for all the support and prayers.

Love,

Jeff, Kathy and the girls

The following is a copy/paste from my sister's email update for tonight:

"Hello to all,

Kennedy's x-rays results were the same as Sunday.  Nothing better but nothing worse.  She took a good nap late afternoon-early evening.  Me too.  :)  When she awoke she ate really well.  She did start running a low grade fever.  We will keep a close eye on her tonight to make sure it doesn't get higher.  They won't give her tylenol unless the fever is over 102.

My older sister is working out details to come next week.  She has three children that turn 9 tomorrow.  So we are praying for the kids to handle mom being away for a week.  This week the girls are enjoying time with their Grandma.  This help has taken a load of stress off our shoulders.

We praise God for taking care of Kennedy.  We praise Him for her good day yesterday and look forward to more.  We praise Him for working out the details in regards to care for the other children.  We praise Him for this hospital she is at. As the week progresses we continue to pray for the doctors to have wisdom in caring for Kennedy, for the medicine to rid the infection without causing side effects, for Kennedy to rest comfortably and breathe easy, for God's hand in the details of Miranda coming, we pray for my sisters' kids as this is the first time they will be away from their mom. and for her husband as this will be the first time he has been away from his wife.  We thank God for the peace we receive knowing he is the best physician and healer.  We also remember all the other children who are suffering in this hospital, specifically the little newborn next door they just took to the NICU.  We pray for healing of this little one, we pray the parents will come to know Christ as their Savior through this and if they already know Him we pray that their trust in the Lord will strengthen.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.

God is Great!

Jeff, Kathy and girls"

The following is a copy/paste from my sister's email update today:

"Yesterday was a great day.  Kennedy was taken off oxygen.  She ate and slept well.  Attached is a pic of her Jeff took.
Last night she started to have trouble breathing so she is back on the oxygen.  She is having a hard time nursing.  She gets worn out quickly.  We just got back from getting a chest x-ray and are waiting on the results.  She has also developed a rash.  The doctor said we will keep an eye on it.  She said it does not seem like it is a medication reaction but more like a reaction to the rough blankets or detergent.  The good news is she currently has no fever.
The girls and my mom came Monday night to see the baby.  The girls we able to stand at the door and wave and blow kisses to her.  There is a playroom down the hall that they were able to play in while visiting with me.  I enjoyed visiting with them and eating dinner with them.  It comforted them a lot to see that Kennedy is okay, see where we are staying and to see how much the staff here cares for her as well as how they are doing.  One of the staff members took a picture of Kennedy and printed one out for each of them.  They were so happy to take a picture home of their sister.  They colored pictures for Kennedy and we hung them over her bed.  Jennifer also drew a rainbow for her and wrote this below, "Roses are red, the sky is blue, when you get well, I'll see you!"  How sweet!
Life goes on outside the hospital.  Jane went potty for the first time last night!  Way to go!
Thanks for the continued prayers.
Jeff, Kathy.Jennifer, Katy, Jane and Kennedy Stanley"

Sister just called. Kennedy is still on the oxygen after they put it back on her last night. She also won't eat much since last night now. Seems to be because of difficulty breathing well while trying to eat. They are going to do an x-ray to see how her lungs look. Doing now.
