Positive Thought brings Positive Action

Word of the Day: fractious: tending to cause trouble; also, irritable.

Lately little miss Sierra Belle has been fractious. (See...lookie I can use the word.lol) I suppose it had to come. But I had hoped this little phase would pass her by. She comes home today after being out of school for an entire week of snow days and goes straight to her computer. I ask her if she did her homework. She replies very snootily, "Perhaps I already did it."

Hmm.. Doubtful. So I ask, "Did you do it?". I give her one of those penetrating honesty stares. You know the ones you could never lie to as a kid. She says very demurely "no". So I ask her why she gave me attitude. No answer there.

I told her she needs to speak to me with respect and don't give me attitude. So I made her close the laptop and go get her homework. Guess what? She didn't bring her assignment book home. So she is writing sentences for me now. I am very tempted to do more. But I don't want to be as harsh as my mother was when it came to "attitude". I suppose little Miss Sierra gets it from me. I always gave attitude. lol. But she needs to learn respect, and anything my mother did certainly didn't teach it. So not sure what else to do.

ETA: Speak of the devil. My mother just dropped by and saw Sierra doing her sentences. I asked her what she ever did with me when I was disrespectful. She reminded me that she use to tell me "what comes around goes around." lol. So mother is having a grand laugh over Sierra's latest defiance.

Btw, Sierra wrote a page both front and back. But she used huge letters to do it. lol. So I gave her a second page.

Little stinker! :)

Kids. They keep the challenges coming, don't they?

Gotta love 'em for testing us though. They're a good barometer for how we are doing with being the best "us" we want to be :)

You're doing a good job mama.
