This morning on the radio:
Reports are in that traffic on I 81 is being diverted at the 5a exit going North in Maryland this morning. No word yet on the reason.
Caller: Yes I don't know what is going on but they are diverting us to go around to 2 exits up.
Radio spokesperson: yes thank you.
Another caller: Yes I think I may know why we are being diverted.
Radio spokesperson: Yes, go on.
Caller: Well this is very hard for me to say, but I believe it is because someone jumped from the over pass on top of a tractor trailer.
Radio Person: Oh my that is scary, I wonder why?
Radiospokesperson: We have the state police on the line. Hello sir?
Police: Yes we are her at the accident. We are diverting all Northbound traffic at 5a and having them get back o at exit 7a. There was a pedestrian that ran out in front of traffic and got hit by several cars, including a tractor trailer. Reports are that the person was suffering from depression.
Radio Spokesperson: Oh my thank you for that. Please let us all keep this person in our prayers.
This was actually on the radio this morning. We have seen several stories about people doing crazy things because of depression or they feel there is not other way out.
They feel trapped and helpless. Because of the economy they are jobless, homeless, and sometimes hungry. They feel like they failed themselves or their family. But in reality those are the very people who can help you.
This terrible problem needs to be recognized more then just around the Holidays, it needs to be addressed all year round.
