Saving Grace~ ~ ~written by RL

Humans are what we call ourselves,

civilized is what we all hope we are.

As we rush through our hours in days,

spending our quality time inside a car.

Fast food and drive throughs,

 quick fast and ina hurry.

From the moment our feet hit ground,

we all split, scram, and scurry.

Today I made myself stop,

even though I felt a fool.

As I sat alone, along side the road,

after I dropped the kids at school.

I seen all those who continued on,

as I, just moments before, had done.

I pondered upon what has consumed us all,

and what we've all rushed to become.

As the world has changed in one way or another,

between the terror attacks and the economy down the drain.

Money is the one thing that connects us to each other,

it is the root of all our stress and strain.

Faith is just one of the many things

that has gone missing, is these days of new.

Everyone is just trying to get by,

and if you've paid your water bill, your one of the few.

We should be thankful for what little we have,

not cursing, killing ourselves always trying to get more.

We should focus on how many souls we can save.

oh, how would we be recieved?, if we went now, to that other shore?

I shudder to think of what would happen,

If we were all called upon right now.

No time to plead to be forgiven,

just before him, we all humbley bow.

Right now, I plead with you to STOP.

no matter with what, you are consumed.

Reguardless of what you have to drop,

there is nothing that cant be resumed.

If this is what it takes to wake you,

then its a small and petty price.

Or rather, the Good Lord, come and take you,

what he would say couldnt be nice.

So, here I sat, along side the raod,

 humble, greatful and ashame.

I beg Him for forgivness,

for my own sins, I am to blame.

It was me, who let my mind go,

to get wrapped up in selfish things.

No excuse for all my time though,

As I sleep, when the church bell rings.

Now, let my time be taken

with your blessing and your grace.

Keep my mind within your heavans,

in your kingdom, save my place.

I will continue through this day,

and each day, Lord willing, that is to come.

But no longer will a dollar sign

be my motivation to get things done.

Now, back out onto the road,

into traffic, I take my place.

I no longer carry such a heavy load,

as I have said my saving grace.
