Back story: When I got pregnant with my first daughter I was extremely scared and the day I knew I was pregnant the song "with arms wide open" came on the radio while my husband (then boyfriend) and I were out driving. Well we both thought it was odd that it came on that day because we hadn't heard it in forever. I felt like it was a sign that it was meant to be. So I guess it sort of became our "family song".

I knew for awhile that's how I wanted to represent my children on my body, but I wanted to add something special for each child. I thought about birth flowers and astrological signs but I wanted something a little bit more unique. Well every time I think of my 21 month old, Aislynn, I think of the ocean or water. She's our little fish. So I chose the starfish for her. My 6 month old, Keir, always gets associated with bumble bees for me. I have no idea why, she just does. So I knew right off the back that I'd be getting a bee for her.

I finally got the tattoo done last night with a friend of mine. She came in with me to get her youngest daughter's name done on her wrist (hers is super cute as well I wish I had a picture). I had an absolutely amazing tattoo artist. He really understood what I wanted and we have basically the same style. The tattoo really didn't hurt as bad as I expected it to. Everyone told me horror stories about their rib tats. It hurt but it wasn't awful at all and I have a very low pain tolerance! I obviously got it on both sides too so I had to lay on one while I got the second side done. The guy told me I did better than any of the servicemen he has had come in for a rib tats...and even better than many for less painful areas. I had so much fun. Plus tattoo parlors are always a HUGE boost for my confidence. They LOVE my skin. It's very smooth and very very white. Great for tattooing. Everyone in there was complimenting me on it. I was so happy :) Lol.

Here's the pictures:

Please excuse the mommy body by the way. Lol. I'm still working on getting all the flab gone.
