Been out of the workforce a long time...need advice!

I love writing about life from my perspective as a mom, and as such recently emailed several editors of city newspapers in my surrounding area.  I included the link to my website and attached two of my favourite stories. I even offered to write for them for free in an effort to prove that I could draw in readers!!!

One managing editor wrote back and said that he had just returned home from a week of vacation and would definitely be in touch.  He made a couple of friendly comments about how it's funny that 5 kids is considered a lot for one family nowadays and how his wife came from a family with 12 kids.

I wrote back a polite 'thank you' and said I was looking forward to hearing from him.

That was two weeks ago this Wednesday.  Should I follow up?  If so, when?  I feel like I am going to wear out the refresh button on my poor computer!
