I forgot to freeze time
like I said I would
now tomorrow is here.
I'm not ready
to leave yesterday behind.
I thought it would last
a little longer than it did.
When did your little hands
grow bigger than mine?
Wasn't it just yesterday
I cradled
you in my arms
while you slumbered?
I used to hold
your tiny hand
now mine seems small
when covered by yours.
Your hands
are big and strong
like I dreamed
they would be.
I don't remember
waking up.
Wasn't it only yesterday
you looked up at me?
Now here I stand
looking up at you.
I forgot to freeze time
like I said I would
now tomorrow is here.
I'm not ready
to leave yesterday behind.
I thought it would last
a little longer than it did.

Always perfectly said.
The passing of time of which we have no control. Life like a roller coaster rapidly moving along, over before we have yet realized that it's done. Hurrying back in line to try it once again..yet life doesn't give us a chance to relive the adventure, feel the joy, highs and lows.
It simply passes leaving us with memories.

You've written exactly how I've been feeling...not quite there yet with the hands bigger than mine, but I still miss the baby days and the tiny hands. I know I will feel the same once my kids are bigger, especially my son who will be bigger than me some day. Beautiful sentiments, Crystal.
