After all that Adrienne has been through in the past 7 years, one would think that she would be depressed or have episodes of being angry at the whole world but she doesn't. Instead she embraces life with arms wide open and to me, that makes her one hell of an amazing girl. no mater how crappy she feels she is always smiling and has a positive attitude. she is incredibly patient with her multiply disabled little brother even when I am at the end of my rope with him.
Tonight she showed me once again just how amazing she is and how large her heart is. She has a friend that is a bit younger than her, the girl just turned 16, we'll call her Jane. Jane has had a somewhat troubled life..a mom that chose a druggie boyfriend over her ...mom lives in FL, Jane lives down the street from us with her dad. Dad tries to keep her under control with groundings and such but it hasn't been working. She has been caught shoplifting, skips school, lies, sneaks off and doesn't go home when she is supposed to. Yeah I know, not exactly the kind of kid you want one of your kids hanging around. Adrienne seems to attract these troubled souls like a magnet..she takes them into her loving spirit and does whatever she can to "help" them in her own way. Whether it is just to listen to them or tell them what they aer doing is wrong in a loving way.
Today after school Jane's father called our house looking for her, and told me she has been running around with a 24 yr old man that he has forbidden her to see and she threatened to run away. He asked me if she showed up if I would send her home immediately, I told him yes and would call him after I sent her home to let him know she showed up and I had sent her on her way. Adrienne was worrying herself half to death about her friend and insisted on taking her bike out to look for her. I was kind of leery about letting her go because of her health issues but relented.
Not only did Adrienne find her within an hour and convinced her to go home and walked her all the way to her door to make sure she went there. All because she wanted her friend to be safe and do what is right. Sadly, Jane's father is at the point where he has tried everything he can think of to get her under control before she winds up another teen pregnancy or missing teen statistic and has decided to file a P.I.N.S. action on her. I feel bad for him that he needs to do it, but the girl really does need help and I am glad he realizes that he cannot do it all by himself and loves her enough to get her the help she needs.
Jane will be going away for a while and Adrienne will miss her terribly but knows it is what is best for Jane. Adrienne could have told her to run, tried to hide her, warned her of her father's plans but she didn't. because she loves her friend enough to want better for her.I am very proud of how she handled herself with Jane. My kid Rocks!

Adrienne does ROCK!!! Big time! I know that she is old enough to do what she feels is right in her heart and I think from everything I've read about her...she ALWAYS chooses the "right" thing to do. She is one very special young lady!!
You should be proud Mommy..it's all about YOUR parenting! Keeping Adrienne in my prayers!!
Also, saying a prayer for your neighbor's Daughter. Sad situation.
