Since there are so many people on here that think pit bulls are horrible rotten dogs and have no place in a home, please tell me what I should do with mine. I had her before my son was born. She has gone to doggie daycare since she was 4 months old, is very very well trained and has never ever shown a sign of aggression or even dominance with another dog or human, ever. She has been poked and prodded by my son on several occassions and doesnt even flinch. No one is afraid of my dog. But she's a pit bull. So she MUST be evil right? So what should I do with her? Dump her at a shelter and let her die? Chain her to a tree in the backyard 24/7 and let her become aggressive and THEN get her taken by Animal Control and let her die?
What about the Lab that attacked me at work? What about the Beagle that tore a chunk out of my finger? Or the Pomeranian? Or the Yorkie? Or the Cocker Spaniel? Or the pugs that jumped on my son and knocked him down and gave him a boo-boo? You know, the dogs that actually HAVE shown aggression...I mean, they arent a "dangerous breed" so I guess they are excused...
Some of you people make no sense at all.
PS. I am aware pit bulls can be dangerous. I am ALSO a step ahead of many of you and know that the other THOUSANDS of breeds of dogs can be dangerous. No way right?! How about we use our thinking caps and judge each dog by the individual and not the breed, just like PEOPLE. Thats a novel idea. And how about this. If you dont like my dog even though you've never ever met her or spent a second of time with her, keep your hate to yourself. Until she makes a lunge at you or one of your children, keep it to yourself. I dont walk around the neighborhood sneering at people walking their Beagles despite having been bitten and attacked by several of them.
PSS. I'm not actually ever considering getting rid of her. If someone tries to take her from me, that'll be a fight they'll never forget.
Look at the killer!!!

OMG we actually had the nerve to take her to an outdoor restaurant!! And no one died!

Comments:
shes so pretty.Ive heard all the stories about those dogs.First I wanna say that all dogs are animals and can turn at anytime period.Nomatter what breed. Most of em get raised to be killers and got a bad name cuz of it.I work for a non profit animal rescue and see alot of mistreated animals. So sad it makes me sick!!! If you love her and shes good then why give her up? But having kids I would watch the dog not because of her breed but shes a animal period. If you are looking to get rid of her NO shelters!!! Get ahold of a animal rescue ONLY! They will find a good and safe home for her.We dont believe in killing the animals at all.Only way we put em down is if they are bitters and nasty where we cant find homes for them.Which hasnt happen often.Animal rescues are all about saving the animals.. If u ever want to get rid her contact me... I will hook her up.Our dogs dont stay in cages or yards either. We have ppl me being one that foster the dogs in our homes so they can live a nice life. Then we work on finding them a good loving safe home for good.NEVER take a animal to any kind of shelter..Always take em to a rescue.. She is so beautiful! Id take her any day.
I agree with you 100%. We have had a pure bred pit bull and even a pit bull mix and never had those dogs shown any aggression towards our family or children. Our pit bull was the most loving family dog we ever owned. Now we have an American Bulldog. In our neighborhood some people think she is a pit bull. I sit back and think to myself regardless of the breed ,any dog can bite and attack. Walking through our neighborhood I see the people look and make remarks but it is obvious they don't even know what breed the dog is and they already judge. American Bulldogs are huge and some look vicious however ours is a sweetheart. Pit Bulls are a breed that can be loving, kind and most affectionate it is a shame that the breed has been viewed so differently.
Thank you for the pittie love! I have no intention of getting rid of her ever. I work at a doggie daycare/boarding kennel/adoption center. I've met them all lol I've worked with hundreds of pits and not a single one has ever been a bit aggressive. Ever. The stereotype needs to stop!
The only problem with my neigbors pit - he tries to climb in your lap to give kisses. ;)
The BEST dog we ever had was a pit named Sasha. Had her for 9 years, before she was put down due to extensive cancer. Right up until the end she was gentle and loving. Not a sign of aggression, even though she was in excruciating pain.
pitbulls get thier bad name from those morons who train them to fight. I've had two pitbulls growing up, never bit anyone, one of them did like to eat other animals, but that's not the point, most dogs do. i say to hell with those judgmental people who try to tell you about your dog, he's your dog right. People used to tell my mom, that we shouldn't have them, that one day they were going to snap and bite one of us, never happened. Those pitbulls were the most loyal, loving, affectionate dogs I ever knew.
You know how I feel about them. Almost everyone on here knows how I feel about them. I am the house of Pit Bull LOVE and Rottweiler AFFECTION. The fact that some people on here equate my dogs to merciless killing machines make me SICK. My daughter 10 yr old PIT BULL saved her from another dog when it attacked her. Layla put herself between my daughter and another dog , she was severely injured and GUESS WHAT? At the time , Layla was a FOSTER DOG. She was HOMELESS. UNWANTED. UNLOVED. She is also OLD. Yet she put her life on the line to save my child from having her face ripped off by a strange dog.
I was mauled by a Rottweiler. I was holding my son at the time, he was an infant. Flash forward to when my son was 10. He was Autistic , epileptic and he would wander off. He needed a service dog. We got him T-Rex, a you guessed it , Rottweiler. I knew that the rottie that attacked us when my son was a baby was raised by horrid people and beated and starved so that he would become overly protective of their car lot. They then let the dog loose in the neighborhood I lived in. I knew It wasnt the DOGS fault that it had crap for people. T-Rex the rottie has been my sons faithful service dog for three years now.
2 of my dogs are LICENCED THERAPY PETS. They cant find work. The reason? They are pit bulls and no one wants them in their programs , except for the program at the military hospital. Its sad, they are great dogs and would be wonderful at cheering people up. Prejudice is robbing people the gift of a visit from a furry friend to cheer them up while they are ill. I hate it.
My dogs love my children , they love all of us. They are well trained , well behaved members of the canine community. People fear them for no other reason than the hype they are media spoonfed. Bad people make for bad dogs. Irresponsible owners are the reason Bully Breed dogs have their reputation.
People do not have a Pit Bull problem. Pit Bulls have a People problem. It is time to stop blaming the DOG, and it is time to start blaming the HUMANS that hold the dogs leash. A responsible owner , holding the leash of a Pit Bull , solves the Pit Bulls people problem. I am going to change the world for these dogs ONE RESPONSIBLE LEASH HOLDER AT A TIME. Get the leashes out of the hands of the bad owners and the dogs have a chance.
<3 Your dog is so beautiful! Phooey on all those people who attack pits as a breed, rather than on an individual case basis. My husband is one of those with an almost irrational hatred of pits, but that's because he was attacked by one, and lost part of his nose when he was a child. But again, that was one animal, not the entire breed. I've had other family member get attacked by german shepards (my cousin still has the scars from that attack and it was over 20 years ago now), and labs. Breed doesn't mean anything when it comes to aggressive animals.
