This past weekend was something of a bittersweet one for us. Bitter, because my oldest bonus son Stephen left for Army boot camp. He's left the nest before, but this time it's the hardest because I know that he probably won't be back here to live. Visit, sure. But live? Nope.
Sweet because we spent the weekend hanging out with the offspring. Not that this is any different from any other weekend, but this weekend we did some fun stuff.
Friday nite was the Daddy Daughter Dance, and The Man and Stephen took the two younger girls, "Beta" and "Delta" as their dates. The theme was a luau. They looked so cute! Observe:

Is that... a smile, Guy I Married? What? No...? Almost a smile counts, right? haha

Really, he has been known to actually crack a smile or two... no, really, I swear!

Clearly these two don't have any problems with it!

Big brothers are SO cool, right?
Saturday, the kids and I decided to go on a cookie baking spree. Yeah. We made a crap-ton of cookies (please don't ask what I was thinking, because clearly, I wasn't. Like I need a bunch of delicious cookies around the house, just waiting to be eaten!) but we had a pretty good time doing it. Observe, photo evidence of said fun:

The makeup on her is cat whiskers and cat nose and cat... eyebrows(?); yes, I make my daughter pretend to be the pet we'll never own.

Yeah, I don't THINK so, you three!

Really, never a dull moment around here (and I need to take the trash out).

Lots of love....

.... affection....

... good old fashioned cannibalism....

Can't you just FEEL the love? She totally thinks I'm awesome, you can tell.

Oh yeah, she loves me.
Then we decided to play Jenga... That was good times, too! Look, see:

(I added this one because I thought it was so cute... I know, biased am I!)
Jenga went well... *ahem*... well, as well as could be expected...

Order was eventually restored, and it was time to cut out the cookies. How fun is this going to be! Observe:

And THAT concludes my random Saturday of Awesome Good Times and Cannibalism (as observed above). I hope you enjoyed checking out this slice of my life as much as I had fun living it, and until next time...
Peace!
Comments:
Looks like a lot of fun. I know just hanging with my kids this past weekend (all of them) made me smile alot. I also notice whenever Tommy is about to leave we make sure everyone is home the night before, either for a special family dinner, a movie or game night.
It's those memories we'll cherish forever.
Glad you were able to spend quality time together before Stephen left.
I thought I smelled cookies! Looks like y'all had a great time. Except for your husband. He looks like he's gonna cavity search the next person who takes his picture.
I can haz cookie nao?
I wanna come over! I wanna play too!
I swear I'm going to make The Man smile...and I will capture it on film. I don't know how yet, but I will. :)
No wonder you were tired on Sunday...that's a whole lotta family fun, Jenna! I loved this post!
The Man and Bonus Son definitely share a ton of DNA. They are wearing the same expression in most of those pictures. Too funny. You have a beautiful family, Jenna.
To get man to smile- simply add daughter- that was as close to a smile as I have seen!!!!!
