I am in college at the ripe old age of 45 and something I witness fairly regularly has me stumped. I have a hard time believing that women/girls allow this and it drives me nuts. Let me explain...
I was coming out of class one morning and there were two young men talking in the area, no big deal...UNTIL one of these young men turned and looked around and asked "Hey, were did my bitches and hoe's go?" I continued to walk by minding my own business but the comment really bothered me.
Do girls today not mind when a boy calls them such a derogatory name? Is it a "badge of honor" or something to be a bitch or hoe? If they are OK with it, who am I to judge? I just don't get it, I really don't. I do my best to teach my daughter and my son that in order to get respect from others they MUST respect themselves first and not allow anyone to disrespect them.
Does this make me old fashioned? Am I blowing this out of proportion? I don't know, it just seems so disrespectful to me.
Comments:
A lot of girls dont even care anymore. I cant stand guys calling girls that,I'm 29...I must be old fashioned too. That is just so disrespectful!! My cousin is 20 & her husband calls her bitch all of the time, its not honey, its bitch. Now hes got their daughter calling mommy that too....YUCK!
It is very derogatory and is a misused colloquialism commonly used in the Black community. It is a bad, deeply ingrained habit that I'm ashamed to admit that I practice loosely among friends. I didn't become fully aware of this posturing, until I took a College Black Psychology class.

It is entirely disrespectful and I do not understand it either. Why would any girl allow someone to speak to her that way? And no, you are not old fashioned because I am only 21 and I feel the same way.
