I have 4 little boys and... I POLE DANCE for a living.....no, I don't work in a strip club and never have but, I teach others, men included, how to pole dance. I feel there are 3 aspects to Pole Dancing. Exotic, Artistic and Athletic. I personally NEVER perform any of the Exotic styles around my kids, but I keep it artistic and fun, they even play on the poles! However, I do love the exotic as well. Pole is my passion!!

My kids and my friends all know about the my pole dancing, my boys at this point in time only think of it as a piece of exercise equipment. Of course in the future they will find out that you can find poles in strip clubs, BUT just because something is found in a place SOME find dirty and wrong doesn't mean you can automatically assume that item is dirty and wrong....its all perspective, I mean they have tables and chairs in strip clubs too, both items can also be use to "dance" on.  A simple chair can be a tool to give lap dances on, we don't hide our chairs! LOL

So.....with that being said, there is always a number of Moms on my site who take up pole dance and find themselves wondering if its OK for them to keep their pole up, as in out in the living room, or some common area of the home. And is it appropriate to let the kids and others see it?

So I wanna know what you all think? Should we hide the pole and keep it a dirty little secret???? love you sign

Very intersting question!  It is amazing the power we give "things"!

Well, I think it depends on the comfort level of the family, you know? I can't imagine having one in my living room because they DO have a conotation that comes along with them, and I may not want to have to deal with that if the sleezy gas guy comes over, you know? I wouldn't have a problem putting one in an area with other exercise equipment though.

Would I be open with my family about it? Sure, as long as I am doing G-rated moves on it, why not? It IS a fantastic work-out and doesn't have to be erotic at all.

But again, I really think it has a lot more to do with what an individual family wants to do. And I think it should be a family decision.

I have heard that it is supposed to be a great workout. Do what you want in YOUR home. It is a personal decision.
