I'm so glad they are finally recalling this thing! This sling NEEDS to be off the market. As an avid baby wearer, I feel this type sling is a death trap.
If you have this sling, contact the company for a replacement product. Unfortunately they're not refunding your money. Stop using it immediately.
Comments:
Multiple children have died in this sling. It's very difficult to use correctly if not impossible for many. It puts a baby's chin on their chest causing them to slowly suffocate to death.
Its the postition the baby is in while in the sling. It causes the babys head to be in the chest and restricts baby's ability to breath. It also gives parents a false sense of security. A proper sling holds baby close to mom's body, this one lets baby hang down too far.
I owned that exact sling once upon a time. The thought of using it terrified me then, and now I'm SO glad I didn't use it.
I got this sling as a baby shower gift and tried it once and HATED it, so now I am sending it back so I never ever have to see it again. lol.
My husband bought me one of these. I used it once, HATED IT, and never used the sucker again. I'm now feeling guilty that I added it to a donation box to an organization that gives such things to parents of preemies.
The stupid thing hangs on your hip, practically. At least it did on me. I COULD NOT make it look like the picture on the box at all! My son hated it too. We got much happier when I started using a moby-style wrap.
It hung at my hip too. I have a very long torso too. We used it once and I could tell that my daughter could not breath in it.
We've been using stretchy wraps, wovens, ring sings, and Mei Tais since. I never had a problem with her chin on her chest with my ring slings.
