We are completely broke. we were denied for Food Stamps for NO REASON and we were denied for Cash Assistance.

We have some money for groceries but we are barely making it.

We depend on WIC for bread and Milk, Juice and our fruits and Veggies.

What frustrates me, is I see all these contests on here "win a $25 Gift Card" for stupid stuff.

I know this sounds childish but don't you think they should be given to the people who need them most? I mean, I could desperately use a gift card to walmart. Even 10 dollars. Anything to keep food on the table for my family. We are that desperate.

I have never been this broke before. We struggled but we never suffered. KWIM?

I don't want to sound pathetic but that's my situation. We need help and I'm not saying that the people who do win the gift cards are Not worthy of winning them, but Cafemom should have a Gift card give away for people who really need them.

My personal opinion.

I just need to get hired somewhere as a CNA so we can move forward with our lives.

Try your local churches.  Also, check with your local DHS and see if there are food pantries around.  They always help families in need.  Good luck, and sending prayers.

Have you tried applying at hospice services?  Don't rule out schools in your area.  Some need a school nurse.  There are also home health workers.  Also check out larger daycares as many need someone to dispense meds to children who are chronically ill.  EVEN if they say they don't have anything open ask them to keep you in mind should they hear of a position in ANY company.  In the mean time go to any and all church food banks to get food in your home.

if u have a resume, maybe u can update it and look on the internet for jobs in your area. god bless

Reapply for food stamps and talk to the supervisor. They go by income so if you make too much then I don't know what to tell you... other than cut the Internet off, cable off. Things like that. I am NOT in any way being rude cause we get foodstamps and medicaid even though my husband has kick ass insurance we can't afford the copay for the kids so medicaid picks up the copay for it.

Oh and keep doing all the things cafemom does to give away the gift cards. They NEVER do it by who needs it the most cause that would really be unfair. They just randomly pick winners. I am sorry you feel that way but it wouldn't be right if they ONLY gave it to people who need it. Not being rude about this either:) Trust me I could use some of those at times. We struggle BAD cause I do not work because I am applying for disability and that can take years.

I'm in the same mess too. Last March my husband was laid off from a well  paying job. We have a mortgage and a car payment! He was denied unemployment (don't know why, could never talk to anyone ate the SUI office). Took him 8 months to find another job and it only pays min wage. Now it's March again and I got laid off! I was lucky to have moved to a well paying job during my husbands unemployment, however now I'm unemployed and my husband only make min wage! We were finally able to catch up on our mortgage with our tax return and now I fear we might still loose our house.

I was searching the web and may have found a way to save some money. I went to those "free sample" web sites and filled out a bunch of stuff for make up, dog food, etc. I got a lot of coupons for free products and the rest should be coming in the mail (should know in about 8 weeks). I think if I do this once a week it should save us from having to buy this stuff.

As far as my bank account... negative $500! I had to over draw using the ATM so we could have some cash to hold us over till my husband gets paid.

I was an accountant! I am 3 classes away from getting my bachelors degree. But the school is only offering 2 of the classes this coming quarter and it's the last quarter before graduation. So this means I will have to wait until June 2011! I have found a lot of jobs in my field, but employers want a bachelors degree!

Oh we don't pay for Internet. We use a neighbors wifi with their permission. We have our phones because you can't get a job if an employer can't get a hold of you. We do not have cable or satellite, just free air TV. We dropped the health insurance on me and my husband (just have it on my daughter now). The only bills we have are the ones we cannot go without.
