A Dark and Stormy Night.
It was late and I was lost. The rain poured down on me, it was the reason I was lost. Well it was part of the reason, I knew better than to wander off like this, there was a reason that it was forbidden to be in these woods at night. I was soaked to the skin, not an inch of my body was dry. Why had I run away from him like this? Steve was always a jerk, I shouldn’t let him get to me like that.
“Idiot.” I said to myself. Just then there was a flash of lightning and a crash of thunder, unable to help myself I screamed. When the lightning faded and my eyes cleared, there was a shape before me. There standing in the pouring rain was a man. “Good,” I thought, “Steve found me.”
I ran toward him calling his name. As I got closer realized with a start that it was not Steve but a stranger standing in the rain. This man was several inches taller than Steve. His hair long and dark where Steve’s was short and fair. The stranger started toward me. I stopped running.
Lightning struck again, illuminating him for a moment. Part of me was frightened but part of me was drawn to him. He was beautiful and he smiled at me. The thunderclap deafened me but he seemed unaffected and continued toward me. I knew I should run but I couldn’t move my feet.
“Stop running Angelique, you never need to run again.” His voice was like velvet over my skin. I felt shivers up and down my spine at the sound of my name on his lips. Suddenly my mind raced, how did he know my name? I had never seen him before.
“I know many things about you, my sweet Angelique.” He purred in his liquid voice. “I know why you ran from Steve. I know how much you hate him and how he treats you. Most of all I know that I alone can deliver you from all that.”
Unable to move, I stood in the rain and stared at him as he approached. He took my hand and drew me close. He wrapped an arm around me and pulled me tight against him. So close, so very close. Not even the heavy rain could come between us.
“My sweet Angelique.” he whispered. His hand slid up to my neck and tilted my face into the rain. I closed my eyes to shield them. I felt his breath on my neck as he whispered, “Soon”. Then his mouth was on my neck.
Bliss exploded through me as his sharp teeth sank into my throat. I felt his lips move as he drank from me. Then I felt something press against my own lips, it was his wrist. His warm blood trickled against my lips and I knew what he wanted. I tasted his blood and knew him. My mind and soul flooded with him. I knew him as he seemed to know me.
I looked up into his eyes and called him by name. “Tristan.” I breathed. He smiled and bowed his head to mine and kissed me. We stood there in the forest kissing as the rain picked up. The storm raged around us and poured down over us, our blood mingling with the rain and I knew I was home.
