Helping others work from home

When I saw her interview on Ellen yesterday my jaw hit the floor!  So here is what happened.  Ellen asked her if she brushes her teeth every day because she heard that she does not.  Well turns out it's true!  Jessica Simpson said that she doesn't brush every day because her teeth feel too slippery.  She says she likes her teeth to feel a bit rough.

So I thought I would take just a few minutes to let Jessica know what that rough feeling is that she says she likes...I have a feeling if she only knew what it was she would brush every day.  So why is it that when you brush your teeth feel nice and slippery and when you don't they get that rough feeling?  Well ladies and gents, that roughness on your teeth if you don't brush are COLONIES OF BACTERIA growing cities and governments IN YOUR MOUTH!!!  They are growing out of control and getting taller to the point of you feeling roughness.  So it's totally gross to keep that on your teeth!  These colonies reorganize themselves so it's important to brush at least once a day to disrupt the organization, but better to do it twice a day for 2 minutes each time.

Brushing accounts for 80% of the surfaces of your teeth...so what is the other 20%?  This is the surface area between your teeth which is why flossing is so important.  Flossing is like brushing between your teeth.  When you do this once a day you disrupt the organization of the bacteria so it can't get itself together to keep growing into colonies.  Which for me I'd like to not have that festering in my mouth!

But to her credit though, she does rinse with Listerine and floss every day, which as a dental hygienist I can say is more than most people do (although I would say most brush their teeth every day).  So for Miss Jessica Simpson, she is only cleaning 20% of her mouth.  Yes rinsing with Listerine is good...but it does not replace brushing by any means.
