Do I Need Cancer Insurance? Please take the time to think about this one...
Unfortunately Cancer Insurance is not something we may have specifically thought of getting. We assume our Major Medical will help us through it, however they only cover so much and fighting cancer is very expensive, not to mention emotional. The last thing we want to worry about it extra costs.
And then we think...it won't happen to us. Say yes if:
1. You have know someone who has been diagnosed...
2. You know more than 1 person...
3. You know how financially restraining is was on their household...
When Cancer strikes a family it affects the WHOLE family. And is often a DUAL LOSS of income because the spouse is taking care of their spouse. So while insurance is covering some of the treatment process...often not much is covering what insurance isn't or the household bills.
If the person diagnosed does not have disability then their portion of income is reduced or lost all together during the process. And the spouse will more than likely use up any sick time or vacation before the battle is even close to seeing the other side.
I know I hope I never have to personally live this reality, but unfortunately it is a reality. What scares me is 1 out of 2 men will get cancer and 1 out of 2.8 women will get cancer. I have a family of 4. 2 Men/Boy 2 Women/Girl. Those statistics could me 2 out of the 4 of us will have some diagnosis of cancer. I realize that doesn't mean it will happen, but I think we all know the growing rates of cancer. I want the best coverage in case of anything!
This article will give you some insight on Cancer and/or insurance. And while you should have Major Medical Insurance, especially in a catastrophic event, there is so much more to a disease like cancer that major medical is not going to help with or cover at all. Click HERE for article!
