So i was diagnosed with Factor 5 about 4 years ago.  For the people like me who have/had no idea what that is, its a genetic mutation of the blood which causes it to clot.  I found this out when i went in to the dr. for a bump on my leg and my whole leg was sore.  At the time i was working full time on my feet 8 hrs a day.  So when dr. said it was a superficial blood clot i wasnt alarmed.  But when the lab results returned and he called me to give me the results i was a little alarmed when he said if i was to get prego id have to come see him. OF COURSE just because he said that i got prego the following month( accidentally ) so i went to see him, he told me i have to give myself an injection (blood thinners) everyday for the duration of my pregs.  That was whatever, let me get to the real kicker of this whole post.  In feb of this year i got another superficial blood clot in same plae, 5th one, same place. So i had laser ablation surgery on my greater saphinous vein.  Come to find out,i have incompitant veins in both my superficial vein system and also the deep one.  (in my legs) So i have 3 factors against me and my blood. i have factor 5, i smoke, and i have incompitant veins.  I have to wear stupid compression stockings on both my legs and take cumadin for the rest of my life.................im only 30 and have two rad kids whom i want to be around for. Guess i have to quit smoking, how???
