I was 29 wks, pregnant w/ my 4th baby, on mother's day, and I started bleeding. Once I got to the hospital, they realized that I was having contractions, and so they put me on this magnezeum stuff to stop them. After having an ultra sound they realized that I have a "total placenta prevea" and something else that begins w/ the letter "a". They kept me in the hospital for a wk, and when I was released the dr. explained that pretty much, the placenta is totally covering the birthcanal, and I will have to have a c-section. I will not go to full term, but they are hoping that I will at least make it to 32-36 wks. Until then, I am on bedrest, because if I should start bleeding again, it will not stop, and there is a poss. that I could bleed to death. They are also worried that the placenta could attach to my bladder or bowels, or that it could attach to my previous c-section scar. Should that happen, I could have to have a hysterectamy, or have emergency surgery on where ever it attached.

I was wondering if anyone has gone through this, or is going through this, and how your pregnancy went or is going. This is really scary, and I've never had complications before during a pregnancy so I welcome any comments. Thanks

Two of my daughters had placenta previa's.  The first one had a partial one and it did move off the cervix before delivery earlier in her pregnancy.

The second one had it twice, with two pregnancies, ending it c-sections each time.    If the blood is brown, its old and not to worry about it. It should come out so there won't be infection.

But if you do start bleeding bright red blood, GET to the hospital as quick as you can.   You can bleed out very quickly.   The second pregnancy she started bleeding out, called 911 and in 40 minutes had her baby delivered by C-section.

Most times if you stay on bed rest, drink lots of fluids and let others care for you and your family, the placenta will stay intact and you and your baby will be fine.
