Needing to vent...sick of his illegal status. Needs change baaad!!!

My son's daddy is a good partner and provider. There is one thing that just irks me about him and that is the fact that he is illegal.

He came here legally on a visa, but it expired and he let it expire and stayed here anyway. I know it's costly and takes time to renew it and go through the process of it. I've drilled it through his thick skull that he needs to get an immigration lawyer and find out what he needs to do to become legal. But no, he dicks around and blows it off. I even gave him a number of a popular lawyer in Kansas City that two of my best friends know.

On Sunday, he was driving and got pulled over. The cop took him to the police station in Lees Summit and got off with a bond, luckily his brother got him out. He has a court date to pay the tickets next week. This isn't the first time. He got pulled over in Olathe almost two years ago. He got lucky that the cop goofed and didn't properly record the ticket and he didn't take him to jail.

I'm so sick of being afraid when he walks out the door. I've begged and begged for him to do this right. He thinks getting married will be an automatic solution to this and it isn't. He's so ignorant with this. Meanwhile, he keeps fucking up and the more he gets pulled over like this, the harder it will be for him to become legal the right way when he does try, if he wants to. I'm sick of it. It's to the point where I don't want to move on with our relationship unless this changes. I can't wait on him forever knowing that he won't get off lucky like this. It isn't fair to me and our son.

So please don't bash. I know this is fucked up. I don't need to hear it.
