I have been trying to understand why people would rather buy their kids a full set of trading cards rather than have the kids work to complete a set. When I got my daughter into trading cards my sister in law went on ebay and started buying the complete sets for her. I got mad. I feel that doing that takes away from the whole point of trading cards. If my daughter had friends or even family that collected the same cards she wouldn't be able to trade with them. There was no surprise over what cards came out of any givin pack or even if we would get a foil card. Buying them by the pack cost more, but in the end at least my daughter is learning to stick with something and keep at it until it is done. The card packs she gets a rewards for keeping her grades up, or helping out around the house or just because. In the long run it's still cheaper than buying toys and takes up less space. My husband and parents have even gotted in on this with her.
