My husband was stationed at Jax Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Fla. in 1963-1065. We owned a mobile home and lived in a park on the St. Johns River in Orange Park. It was a beautiful park, and we enjoyed our time there: fishing off the dock, going for long walks, playing badmitten with friends, etc. But, oh my!! That was the blackest sand I've ever seen!! Diane and Cheri (Toadilypeachy) were 3 and 10mths, respectivly, when we moved there. In the summer months they needed a bath before they could eat lunch, another before they ate supper, and still another before they went to bed at night. Sometimes I took them for walks along the railroad bed to pick wild flowers, which grew abundantly there, just to keep them from playing in the sand. It's a wonder they had any skin left, by the time summer was over!
The memory I want to share with you is this: Cheri (Toadilypeachy) was about 2 1/2 years old when Gail was born. Now all of you know what a stinking mess new-borns make when they poop their diapers full and running over! I was cleaning Gail up, with Cheri standing right beside me, watching everything I did: Finally, she looked up at me with her little nose all wrinkled up, and said, "Mommie, why don't you just spank him's ass and throw him in the yard?!" LOL Guess she didn't think Gail was worth cleaning up and keeping.
