So my hubs and I have decided to move to a new state. We started talking about it on the 4th of July after visiting and thinking what a pretty place and it might be good to move there. Shortly after we got back, my daughter was outside when one little boy started teasing her. Now teasing is nothing new, she has always been the girl the others pick on, but this time it escalated. The kids decided to hit her, several times. She had a bruised jaw but was otherwise alright. The sad thing is that the parents seemed to think she "deserved it" and didn't give a rats butt their kids were being delinquents!
That kind of sealed the deal for us. But just to put the cherry on top of this mashed potato and garlic sundae, when we talked to our manager about the incident, we discovered that our rent will be raised in October. We're barely staying afloat now and just when our rent goes up, my income goes down by $200! There is no way we can stay here.
So we are moving. Luckily where we are going is only two hours away which allowed us to drive there this week to look for a new place. We went up last Sunday and came home Monday. Did laundry on Tuesday and found out we didn't get the place we wanted, so we drove back on Wednesday night. We stayed for just that day simply because there was a special event in town and we couldn't find a place to stay that we could afford, even the local Motel 6 was $80!! Anyway we came back on Thursday night and on Friday I did some more laundry and we found out that again we didn't get the place we wanted.
So yesterday we got up really early and drove back. We stopped at one place we liked in the rental book. Now we know our credit sucks, we are upfront about what's on our credit report. We also disclose our financial situation completely. Anyway, by now we felt as though these other places had not been totally honest in letting us know we would have no trouble qualifying for an apartment. When we talked to the manager yesterday, I told her flat out that we felt we had been lied too and that we are honest with them so kindly please honest with us.
I think she was. By the time we left we had filled out all of the paperwork, except for the lease, and she was 98% sure we would be accepted. We will know for sure on Monday. If we don't get it, we simply can't afford to go back for awhile and that would suck. We have given notice at our apartment and we ARE leaving on Sept 1. We are going with or without a place to live. We'll stay in a hotel for awhile if we have to.
Anyway, if you have actually read this far, thanks. I am frustrated and tired and need to finish the laundry and start packing up our stuff. It's going to be a long 3 weeks!!

Hi V_Clar,
I may be a single mom, but I understand where you are coming from!!! I also live from paycheck to paycheck. It always seems like you don't get ahead no matter what you do. Fortunately, I am very Greatful of having a Wonderful friend that is helping me out and in return I am helping my friend out.
I seriously don't understand why some parents think that their children don't do anything wrong!!! It's probably something that they taught them. WHAT A SHAME!!!!! I hope that you find what you are looking for in the other state that you are moving to. Best of luck to you and your family!!!!
After reading your post, I am wondering if it would be ok to add you as a friend????
If you feel comfortable, after reading this comment, you can add me as a friend.
