Today I am declaring war on a foe I have had for many years. This enemy came into my life about 24 years ago. At first my enemy was strong, persistent, and seemed to be winning. After 6 months my enemy enlisted a friend.

I won the battle but not the war.

And no,this isn't anything seriously tragic like cancer. It is a latent virus. I have cytomegalovirus. Or had. But has works best, as after I was sick in bed for 6 months, I developed Chronic Fatigue Immune Deficiency Disorder (or just Chronic Fatigue Syndrome if you prefer that nomenclature)- that'd be the friend that the CMV enlisted-. I had that for a year. It encompassed my Sophomore year of high school. My Doctor only let me attend school half days for the first 5 months of school. Or maybe it was the whole school year;I forget.

a lot of people get CMV and it's just a bad cold that lasts a week or 2. Some people just get it really badly, though. I was one of those lucky few.

CMV is kind of like chicken pox... in that after you have chicken pox you can get shingles, because the chicken pox stays in your cells and shingles is brought out often by stress.

not that I get red, itchy bumps. But stress brings out the CMV stuff again. Mental, emotional, physical stress. it doesn't matter. Usually just 'being really busy and not getting enough sleep' does it. (homeschooling 3boys leads to LOTS of BUSY)

This is where I am today. It started yesterday. I plan on spending the day in bed,knitting, maybe I'll sew and water my garden.

But I will be going to a knitting group tonight from 6-10 (including driving time). And,NO, that is not the best idea for me to do. So I better win this current CMV battle by 4 or 5 PM.
