What happened to the old fashioned movie?

What has happened to the old fashioned movie? Where has it gone? I am looking for the movies that in 50 years will be considdered classics and share a place with the great films of Old Hollywood. You know what I am talking about. The films that even the person who hates any movie made before 1980 has seen and secretly loves. Being the avid movie watcher that I am, I have a few other questions for the film industry.

What happened to the old Hollywood sex symbol. She was curvy, she beautiful, she was sexy. You just looked at her and knew that no othe women could compare. She was so sexy that even women noticed. She had a soft voice and big beautiful eyes. Her hair was perfect and she always got her man just by being so perfect.

What happened to the old Hollywood sex symbol. He was handsome, debonare, charming. He won every fight, he rescued the girl with little or no trouble. Any girl would have given her innocence to him and any woman would have kicked her husband out of her bed for him.

Now, though Hollywood still has tons of beautiful people, they aren't Marilyn Monroe, or Elizabeth Taylor. They aren't Cary Grant or Erol Flynn.

What happened to the old Hollywood femme fatal. Where is she? You know, the woman who was so beautiful, yet so attracted to the bad boy, or to trouble in general. You knew she meant nothing buy heart ache to any man who had anything to do with her. She brought with her plagues and violence.

What ever happened to the old Hollywood weak man. HE wasn't strong, he always fell for the wrong girl, he could never see what was right in front of him.

Now, I am not saying there aren't femme fatals in Hollywood, they aren't Bette Davis, they aren't Tippie Hendren. And I am not saying there aren't weak men in hollywood. They aren't Leslie Howard or Claude Rains.

What ever happened to old Hollywood teams. What happened to those two stars who could get together and you knew that it was going to be amazing. It was going to be the best of movies when these two got together. The love scenes were going to be hot, the fights were going to be vicious, and in the end, they will end up making you wish you could be just as in love.

Now I am not saying there aren't teams in Hollywodd, they just aren't Bogart and Bacall, They aren't Tracy and Hepburn. They aren't Hudson and Day.

Last, what happened to the old Hollywood powerhouse? You know the one, they could sing, dance, make you laugh, were good looking, and could also act. When they were in the movie you know you are going to see a great show.

Now, I am not saying the stars of Hollywood today aren't multitalented. We have Johnny Depp to show us that a star can be multitalented. But, he's no Debbie Reynolds, Gene Kelley, or Judy Garland.

So, you can take today's beautiful people. I will be happy with Cary Grant and Elizabeth Taylor. You can take today's femme fatals. I will watch Bette Davis. You take today's weak men. I will watch Leslie Howard. You can be all happy with the teams of today. I will just watch the great Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn. You can think that Johnny Depp is the most talented person alive. I will just watch Gene Kelley.

You can watch the hit movies of today and thinkg that they are great because they made the money or won the awards. I will watch them too, but they will never hold a candle to films of Old Hollywood. They will never have the Drama of Gone with the Wind or Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. They will never have the suspense of North by Northwest or The Rope. They will never give you a crime like A Place in the Sun or Psycho. You will never see a musical like Wizard of Oz or Singing in the Rain. You will never see horror like The Mummy. You will never laugh like you will at Philedelphia Story or My Favorite Wife. They will never make you cry like Madam x or An Affair to Remeber.

So, while you are going to see the latest thing. I will be turing my television to a classic movie channel and enjoying a true classic.

THIS is awesome.  They sure don't make anything like they used to.....And TV.  No more Michael Landon, no more Lucille Ball.
