I've noticed as my junk around the house has increased so has the junk in my trunk... Interesting...
I've had a Hellish two days with an emotional rollercoaster ride ending in my hiding in my bedroom with my nintendo DS. Not really a fun couple days. So.., What lessons am I learning from all of this. I keep my eyes open for the lessons and the signs that I'm on the right direction again. Once I put together my clutter diagnosis my mood lightened and things started not being that hard... hmmm.. could be on to something.
So what to do about the junk in my house and the junk in my trunk?
PURGE
Obviously I don't mean I'm going to start throwing up or anything harmful like that. But just as I go through my home and decide what is a need, what is a want, and what do we really just don't need, I can do that with my life and diet.
So, for example: We have a TON of VHS movies. More than any one family could ever need. On top of that we have an insane amount of DVD's. These movies end up everywhere and the kids get into trouble all the time because of them. I'm going to discuss it with my husband and I think it's time to purge our collection. Get rid of everything we don't watch (which is most of it) and move on. In my life this relates to junk food. We have junk food all over my house. It's counter productive in a family who is trying to be healthy to have so much unhealthy food. To our defense most of it was given to us in food boxes. I've felt guilty because of that and not gotten rid of it, not to mention sometimes it's all we have to eat. I feel we're at a turning point though now and that I can safely get rid of all the crap to make room for all the good stuff.
My job for tomorrow: purge junk food and movies. I bet my husband and kids won't even notice that the movies are missing!
