Ladies, ...Moms or Grandma's, Please take a look at pictures of those beautiful children. Look at their eyes!  This is very important. If you see anything that looks wrong, please take action.  There are 40 nero-ocular diseases that are affecting our children.

If you see a white spot in a picture, (this is known as White Eye) where you should see red, Please, Please don't think you have bad film. If you see anything that just doesn't look right to you, get to the doctor. Don't feel like you are a worry wart. Things like "Pink Eye", or a pupil that is not the same as the other one, constant rubbing the eye, turning the head to watch TV, running into things more so than normal, these are all little warning signs that something might be seriously wrong.

If you are expecting, while at the hospital, before coming home, ask your doctor to please do a dilation test on your babies eyes!  You want to make sure your baby has red reflex in their eyes.

My grandson lost his right eye because of a disease. The disease he had was RETINOBLASTOMA. It is a cancer that blocks the retina. If it is caught in the early stages, it can be treated. If it is not caught in time, it can kill.

This is Sam, a beautiful little 16 month old little boy. This picture was taken in the morning, just before they removed his eye. If you look at this picture, everything looks normal, but if you look close, his eyes look slightly crossed. There are pictures of Sam with white eye, but I put this one up because he looks so normal. Sam was my daughter's first baby. She did everything by the book. After 9 months of Sam having problems with his eye being pink, she became a pain about it with the doctors. In 5 days, we went from "Oh there is something going on in there, but we don't think it's a problem!" to " Honey, your son has cancer" to "We need to remove his eye to save his LIFE". Then the surgery.

This is nothing to mess with. If you feel something is not right...go with your gut. You live with this little being.

The numbers are terrifying! One out of every four children starting school this year, are doing so with an eye disease. We need to give our children the gift of sight. Be pro active and fight for our children's sight. Remember, if they lose an eye, they can not grow back!!!
