I had a great home birth and fairly short labor. I labored all day yesterday (early labor) and things didn't increase until after I went to bed. I called my midwives about 2:30-3:00 am. It takes them about an hour to get here. My contractions were not textbook, but I knew from my last birth that it didn't mean anything with me. As they were walking in the door about 4:00, my water broke. I gave birth to my daughter at 5:05. It was really quick. I felt had to pee but couldn't (I was drinking a lot). Then I had this strong urge to poop. I remembered that was how it felt with my last daughter, so I said, "Lay out the plastic sheet and chux pads. The baby is coming!" As they were laying them out, I went and sat in the middle to avoid any more contractions. My husband and one midwife went into the kitchen to prepare hot compresses (per my request) and the other midwife continued laying out the chux pads. Then I felt the baby's head emerge (while I was sitting on the floor). lol. I told everyone to forget the compresses because the baby's head was here. They thought I was about to push it out. I said no, it was out and I was sitting on it and couldn't get up! They helped me to all fours and said "The baby's head is out!" I"m like, "that's what I said." Then my yet unborn baby started doing something inside me. Not sure what, but it made me howl like a dying dog. I got very angry and demanded that she stop (like that would work). Fortunately it wasn't long until she was out. I stayed on all fours for a bit until the next contraction pushed her out.
Big beautiful baby weighing in at 9 lbs 12 oz. 21 1/2" long. She's healthy, pink and a champion nurser. I didn't hemorrhage or tear (like I did with my first) and I'm feeling great as well!
Here are a few pics.

In one of her newborn diapers that she is already too big for. :( I have a whole set of these.

Natalee moved and made a noise!

The sisters!

Ahh, this diaper fits better.

Oh, and she was born on her due date. How cool is that!
Adam really liked the name Natalie, however I thought it would be cool to use our middle names. Since Adam's middle name is Lee and mine is Ann, I thought Leanne would be a cute way to combine our names. Adam knew a Leanne in school that was mean to him and couldn't get over the name. So we settled on Natalee Ann (using Adam's middle name for the speling of Natalee). So that is the story of how we came to spell it Natalee.

She's precious! Congrats on a successful home-birth! :-) My sister is having a home-birth in about a month. Do you happen to have any photos of during your labor, that you wouldn't mind sharing? You don't have to share any that are toooooo explicit..... I just thought it would be neat for my sister to see. I will tell her about your successful home-birth. She is expecting her 4th child, but had the irst 3 in the hospital, I think she might be a bit nervous. :-/

My biggest applause to you for having a great home birth! She is just beautiful! I admire your bravery and composure during labor.
