Michael is my Little Miracle.

Michael is my Glow Worm Baby.

Yeah, you read right.  GLOW WORM BABY!

We had already went thru two miscarriages before we got pregnant with him.  There is no way to really get you to understand how great our OB/GYN was.  Dr. Hyman.... I heard you fall out of your chair and hear you laughing because his name is the same as a woman's "maiden part".... LOL.... back on line... he was religious but didn't shove it in your face.. but very sweet and supportive.  He told us upfront that I could lose him at any moment and needed to go by "milestones" and could talk with him whenever we needed to.

So, we went day by day, week by week, milestone by milestone with Michael until the first day of my 35th week when my water broke. Yep!  I had him 5 weeks early AND he was 5 pounds 8 ounces and 19 inches long!  I am 5'2" and 125 lbs pre-pregnant and already looked like a miniature Big Bird.  Dr. Hyman said that if I would have carried him full time he would probably weighed any where from low 8 to high 9 pounds!  He was so small that when we brought him home in the smallest car seat there was, only the tips of his toes stuck out of the legs.  When you looked at him wrapped in blanket and cap from the hospital he looked like a Glow Worm!!!

He was tiny until he turned six.  He would have weight spurts but only grow one inch which translates into a short and fat boy. With each passing year he got fatter but only grew one inch.  At the age of 8 he was the same height and weight that I was when I graduated high school!

Then he started having normal growth spurts.

Michael will be 17 on the 16th of October and is a Junior.  He is 5'8" tall and weighs 238 pounds.  He also has a very kind, generous, and giving heart and soul.  We had birthday parties for him up to the age of 6 but when we started having financial problems and were unable to have them for him and his brothers, he was very understanding and never acted differently.  He understood that he couldn't have a big Christmas and was content and satisfied with the gifts he received.  He never made us feel guilty about it.

He has never wanted to participate in school activities because he is shy but he also stays away from anything he fills other students act silly in.  He hasn't asked for money for school jerseys, shirts, or jackets either.

I had already told my husband that we needed to try to figure out how to come up with the money to pay for his Senior Class Ring.  Mike's parents told him he could have anything he wanted on his while my parents could only pay for so much and I had to babysit and collect birthday and Christmas money ahead of time to pay for mine.  We really didn't know how Michael felt about it so I called him into my room and talked to him about it.  He got ours out, looked at them, and tried them on.  I told him how I wore mine thru college and even sometimes when I worked.  My husband stopped when he worked and gained weight.  I told him that there were people who wore them after graduating, stored them away, passed them to their children, or stopped wearing them because they started wearing their college or sports ring.  It would be HIS choice.

So, I ws really suprised when I foind out that he had asked me the name of the Ring Maker and been researching for his ring type.  He came to me and said that he REALLY wanted a nice school ring.

My son who never asks for anything has asked for something at the end of his school experience and I am going to try everything I can to give it to him.

So here is what I am going to do.

First, there is another website I belong to called Wish Upon A Hero.  I do the same thing there that I do here.  I make caps and mail them out.  In fact, three friends there are the ones that sent the pink yarn that I have made the Pink Caps.  A good friend purchased the yarn and postage and I crocheted two preemie blankets and four preemie caps for her Preemie daughter and a baby blanket for her other daughter.  I also have sent three Care Packages as well.  I have helped 5 local Moms as well.  I have posted that there about Michael's Senior Ring and there is a $50 deposit due on October 12th and we are going to be making payments and/or saving money to pay the balance after he chooses the ring he wants.

I will be trying to raise money by making and selling things that will be SEPERATE than the GROUP!  This will be done by creating a specific PayPal button labeled Michael's Ring.  If you want to help I can make Spring or Sport/Skater Boy Caps, Scarves, and Preemies/Small Baby Blankets.  Send me a PM so that we can discuss the details.  I do not and am not asking for anyone to donate money at all.  My Mother is donating a few more of her Ceramic and Baby Doll collections for me to Raffle off to help out but it is only for those who want to.

The LINK/Shortcut below is listed for EVERYONE because the PayPal button doesn't work on the WUAH website.

SO, let me state again that this post, topic, items being made, etc etc etc is separate from the group.
