In the advent of the modern age, the subtle art of reading has morphed into an Olympian event. Do you read your book while holding it, or perhaps you enjoy your tome on a kindle; or evenwhile sitting at your desk off of the computer. oops forgot the ever popular methods of books on tape, CD, mp3 and play-aways.
I enjoy the solid art of holding a book in my hand and feeling the crispy pages as they ruffle on my fingertips. I also enjoy having books on cassette, yes cassette my car has yet to morph technologically. I often check out the (quickly disappearing) book on tape and play it in the car when my kids are in it if its a road trip or even to run around town.. My one time morning experience with Dave and chuck the freak left me red in the face and bloody in the ears. Books are a safe bet.
Reading has been a bridge between different generations as we discuss the writers intentions and what ideas have been sparked by the listener, or the reader. What a wonderful thing reading is it educates us, entertains us and evokes strong feeling and Ideas. To make a long bloggy short. check out the library and read a book today..; need any ideas I have a list of a variety of books.
luv

Call me old-fashioned, but I LOVE holding a battered copy of a favorite book, flipping through the pages lazily, lost in whatever world the book takes me to. I've written a few of my own and I have been reading those right now.
I don't understand the Kindle or whatever they call them. I have enough trouble reading stuff on my monitor....why would I want a small portable version that will bother my eyes? Whatever happened to the feel of the paper, the smell a book gets when it has finally reached that state of no going back, when maybe nothing but scotch tape is holding it together (i have a few of those because the books are no longer available to purchase).
Reading a paperback or hardcover (or even an audio book) has become a dying past-time, in my opinion.
