My 12 year old and I were just informed that her Dad will be taking her to The St. Louis Symphony Hall to see http://www.stlsymphony.org/sales/calendar/view.aspx?id=2675 Renee Flemming, a renowned soprano. Wow! I'm super excited for her to get some culture and out of all my girls, she's the one who would appreciate it but this is a black tie affair! Her jeans and tee shirts with flip flops aren't going to work for this! lol So, within 10min, while her dad waited here for her to come up with some kind of wardrobe, we had to put something together for her that didn't scream :"I come from the boondocks!" lol Luckily, I had a simple black skirt and she had a little black sweater and I had some Paris Hilton tiny heels for her to wear.
I'm glad I won't be there! lol I just wish I would have had a little more notice to shop for a more formal outfit. Although I'm a little embarrassed about what I had for her to wear, she just simply said "Mom, they won't all be looking at me anyway"..... Out of the mouths of babes. How true that is. No, Julia, they won't all be looking at you and I'm so proud that you had the confidence to say that!
