*If you are just against vaccinations altogether, please skip this journal post. This is not meant to be a debate, just some information for people to think about. Thank you*
My cousins posted something on their facebook pages today regarding children getting the Flu Mist vaccine. Both of my cousins have children with a hereditary immune disorder. Their children, if exposed to someone who has received the Flu Mist vaccine within the previous 24 hours, run a very high risk of catching the flu from that person. Flu Mist is a LIVE vaccine, meaning they actually subject you to the live virus itself.
If you have a choice between a shot and the mist, and you know your child will be around other children in the 24 hours following, please consider giving your child the shot instead. I know that it is absolutely no fun for a kid to get a shot... I have three kids myself. At the very least, please ask if there are any issues with your child's classmates before you give your child Flu Mist, or consider keeping your child at home that day or limiting their exposure to other kids.
Better safe than sorry!
